Functional Analysis - Attention Condition

Short, semi-silly demonstration of a functional analysis (attention condition) for a class project.

I just want to clarify that in the attention condition we do not provide a tangible/s at all according to Iwata. Don't want anyone to get confused. In the attention condition if the BX occurs we just provide attention BUT not with a tangible/s. It would be positive or negative, attention that was previously reinforced . :0)

Given that they did break character I might see why one might call this, "nonsense." However, what you should observe is the mechanics the therapist uses to attempt to reinforce the behavior with screaming. That is the important part if you want to know how to do this rather than just studying it in a book without applying it in your practice. This example is helpful helps teach teaching my students to collect data with a continuous measurement app. Teaching data collection is the first step. After that, they practice running the sessions under simulation. Next, they collect live sessions and run them with my patients. Notice the number of screams, "Bella, " makes and the number and duration of attention intervals that follow. Upon the first iteration, I asked students to watch and not take data so that we can define the problem behavior. There are topographical variations like volume, duration, whether he breathed between sounds, etc. to discuss. We also look at the quality and duration of attention. Finally, we discuss notions regarding the use of the toy in this session, the extent to which high-value items might displace behavior and whether toys should be used at all when testing attention. If toys are to be included, we discuss how to determine which to use.

I found this to be more helpful than an explanation, as I’ve read all of the literature in Cooper and wanted to see an actual example
