My Instagram:
Dough Ingredients
3 - 4 cups plain flour (or strong bread flour which is better)
1 cup lukewarm milk
1/2 cup lukewarm water
1/4 cup oil
1/2 cup sugar
2 packets active dry yeast (4 1/2 tsp)
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
Filling
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup butter
1 1/2 tbsp ground cinnamon
Diced apples
Pecans (optional)
Icing or condensed milk for topping
Bake in a preheated oven about for about 25-35 mins or until golden brown.
180C / 350F / gas 4
Tips:
- Try to not add too much flour, you want a very soft dough.
- You can rise the dough in the fridge if you want to make it a day before. I prefer putting it in the fridge for the second rise not the first because its ready to put straight into the oven. This is perfect for when you have guests to prepare it the previous day, or even to enjoy them with a cup of coffee for breakfast.
- Use bread flour / strong flour , for a better non crumbly texture.
- You can make a simple icing for the topping using just icing sugar mixed with drops of milk and a touch of vanilla.
- I used half white half brown sugar for the filling, but you can use only brown for a richer and more dense texture.
