What Exactly Are Fontaine's Melusines? | Genshin Impact Lore

As you travel around fontaine, you will undoubtedly run into one of the melusines, a creature that looks like a cross between a rabbit and a baby deer. While fontaine's lore isnt entirely expanded upon yet, if you played only the main story you wouldnt really be told what the melusines are. So in this video we are going to explore and answer the question of what exactly are fontaines melusines?

Some part of this video comes from the actual lore while others may be speculation as we currently do not know the full story. As such take it with a grain of salt as the point of this video is just a deeper dive into genshin impact lore.

They're based on sea slugs. Sea slugs also have the antennae and tails, and some have what look like wings just like Melusines

In some of Neuvillette's information states these interesting things - notably:

That he created a law that they HAVE to be referred to as: "she" or "her" and any other terms, especially "it" or "they" are against the laws.

Also, in his first announcment on twitter by Genshin, it had a steambird reporter stating that he might be a male melusine, which would make him the only male melusine.
I thought Neuvillette was a dragon (or variation).
But it's been stated 2 times now (in the info I stated above, and in the voicelines of the 4.1 trailer), that he could be a male melusine so I'm wondering about that.

Also, Seigwinne (sp?) Is supposed to be half melusine, from what I understand.
If that's the case, I've been wondering how.
How can:
Creatures that are all 1 gender.
That are birthed from a dragon's corps, breed with other things?

What is her other half, if only half of her is Melusine?

Would they even have reproductive organs to breed with other things?

Because of their origins, I would assume they had no reproductive organs.
There should be no need, since they don't NEED to reproduce.
