45k is STI pricing for a WRX with some STI bits. For that price, you can get a specced out GR Corolla with F&R Torsen LSDs, which is more comparable to an STI than a WRX tS.

A few things here about the comparison to the STI:
- No rod-actuated transmission.
- Much weaker transmission.
- Electronic steering vs hydraulic.
- No LSDs front or rear.
- No DCCD (driver-controlled center diff)
- Low red line (2005 had 7, 000 rpm, 2021 was around 6, 700. This is 6k.)
- Less power overall.

To really be an STI, they'd have to have >300hp, offer a substantially stronger transmission (preferably rod-actuated and not cable), add LSDs front and rear, add a DCCD, and make it more aggressive in appearance.

Wish list items would include completely redesigned front and rear bumpers without all of the plastic, and to redesign the fenders so that they aren't plastic. Also, get rid of all of the angles around the wheel well since they don't work well. And get rid of those wheels, they're hideous.

This is coming from someone that owned a 2005 STi and loved every moment of it. I'd still be driving it now if it wasn't totaled. I want them to make a proper upgrade to that car.

I've owned 2 STI's a 2019 & 2021 the re-sale & trade-in value is amazing.

Original owner of a 2011 WRX hatch and still daily driving it with car seats in the back for the kids. I do wish they would bring back the hatch, but if they don't I plan to keep mine and get an Outback or Ascent.

The WRX is so old school, modern reporters don't even know how to launch it. You don't dump it, but instead, you release it slowly in a matter of two seconds or so. You will ride the clutch a bit and your differential will feel the strain... that's the awd life.

WRX looks like a hot/sporty sedan, but the rest of their lineup looks like my 70 y/o parents would drive those cars

25:26 in case you're looking for the 0-60

I have a 22 WRX premium and I find slipping the clutch slightly at like 3-4k RPM up to like 15mph prevents the bogging and shaking while also accelerating faster, dumping it super high shakes the whole drive train, but you also have to shift 1 > 2 > 3 super quick because of the 6k redline and short gears, which hurts the 0-60.

Bought my 2024 Ignition Red Limited WRX Six Speed for SIX GRAND UNDER msrp (a few months ago) with 1% financing. This is the seventh brand new WRX I get. The car is that good. Only once I had a brand new 2018 GTI which was also pretty good. Considered the Golf R but wouldn’t be able to get 6K under msrp like I did with my Limited WRX

Launching these is tricky but for a straight clutch dump, 6.1s is impressive!. You almost want to keep your foot at the engagement point for a split second when you're launching, that'll prevent the driveline shock and from having it bog down.

I’ve been getting constant 5.6 60s. That 5k clutch dump definitely hurt. Traction fully off and around 2.5k and your all set.

This is my next car. I’m trading my 2017 STI in for one in the future.

Subaru needs to add the STi transmission, I hate that they used the weak transmission from the VA chassis

This WRX being like an STI is like what a M340i is to an M3...
It's not and will not ever be an STI just like the M340 will never be an M3

omg THANK YOU for bringing out this video! I had been car-shopping what feels like forever for a limited selection in this US market. It is so sad to see MT going away in so many makers. Good to see it hasn't gone away in subaru yet. 6 piston calipers is impressive. I definitely don't like the tail lights looking like a civic. Do the rear seats scroll down fully??

For sure! The Subaru WRX is known for its all-wheel drive, which makes it awesome for handling in different weather conditions. It's got a sporty look and a turbocharged engine that gives it that extra kick! Plus, the rally heritage is super cool.
