Atheism Doesn't Solve The Problem Of Evil

Say that you don't understand the problem of evil without saying you don't understand the problem of evil.

The problem of evil is not that evil exists, the problem of evil is that evil is incompatible with a certain type of god. Its only applicable to a all powerful, all good, and all knowing type of god.

Another problem we have today, especially for atheist, is true definitions. Faith and religion gives us a sense of good/evil, right/wrong. Many people have replaced religion with politics. Instead of a pretty hard and set rules regarding these topics (religious tomes), they have allowed their morals and values to be dictated by political leaders. If their political leaders say something is wrong or evil, they react to it the same way as if a religious tome told them it that way.

We don't need to solve problems so badly that we make shit up without reason. We try to solve problems until we do.

There is no ought that is decreed from the heavens.

The serial killer believes he "ought" to be able to kill anyone he wants and get away unpunished for it. The rich man believes he ought to be able to gain all the wealth he wants without paying taxes. And the average man thinks the world ought to be more fair. But in every one of these cases it's just a self-serving benefit for the person who holds that belief.

The only thing that enforces an "ought" is when enough people agree on one, and can join together to enforce their will. And historically, when that happens, a lot of injustice is actually created as those powerful institutions become corrupted and controlled by psychopaths.

And there is no universal definition of evil, either. Some people, for example, believe humanity is evil and should be wiped from the earth.

Basically, the world is messy, and the only thing that actually changes anything, is power. Which is a very dangerous tool to use, even with the best of intentions.

If it is one thing i can vouch for as today april 26th 2023 is my 36th bday, is that there is definatelly a higher power 1000%, i done came the bottom of bottoms, prison, felon all that, to successful business man, owning my own, i own everyrhing except the house so far, but thats just around the corner, god will bless me when its time, until then focus in being positive, staying ahead, thinking before acting, and blessing my family. atheism is the conclusion that a particular god or god doesn't exist. Evil is the result of greed, limited resources, and ignorance.

Christianity does a great job of showing how ignorance causes evil by their actions.

If you need a god to practice right from wrong you are severely lacking. I don’t need a deity to tell me not to murder or steal ect.

As a former Christian, the problem of evil wasn't an issue for me. Neither as a Christian or now as an agnostic-atheist.

It's like trying to surmise the reason and purpose for living. There is none. It just is.

Evil and the overarching concepts of morality is what we make of it by cultural consensus that can and does change through time.

All because bad things happen doesn't mean God doesn't exist. Some view good and evil as relative terms or adjectives.
Even if this is true, bad things still happen. So the problem isn't solved there.
