I’m not sure if this was intentional, but the picture of the fish really spoke to me and added to the cohesion of the video, as if the white fish is the artist and everyone is watching and expecting the artist to do something wonderful. This video touched close to my heart, so great work!

I am an artist because I love the process of creation and the colors combinations. I love art because it connects with us on a deeper level, makes us think/reflect, makes us laugh, makes us better selfs. Thank you for making this video!

I do art for escape and as a creative outlet. Life has been hard and art is helping me through it. It also let's me dump any ideas that I get and make them into something.

I’m a freshman in high school and I’ve been drawing for almost 2 years now, so not THAT long. At first I started drawing because of anime. But as I saw more of the art community online, I got more inspired and it drove me to improve. I saw so many amazing pieces and I also started to look at the world around me more closely. I wanted to draw so I could make awesome works of art. And the thing with art is that there are so many choices and possibilities. You can create anything you want! And it’s so fun!!! Sure, sometimes it’s hard to keep going, and it’s easy to be discouraged, but what you get out of it is incredible.

I've always loved the idea of being able to make people smile. To temporarily whisk them away from the troubles of life and let them come away just a bit happier :) that's why I'm an artist

I am an artist, because I always have been. I always had that crazy, infinite, ginormous imagination and creativity, and that sort of need to do something with it. It's why I love so much to write stories, draw a random piece of art, go out to do some photography, or try something new art-related. I've never really decided to be an artist or such, but I know one thing; That I will never stop being it.

I'm an artist because... well, right now it's because I've been doing it for so long that it's second nature. It's one of my greatest skills, and I do enjoy it. Except, with me trying to get into college and everything, I've had nothing but worry and fear pulling me down. Haven't been able to draw for the past week because of it.

Minus my own negativity, you've... really put me in a thinking state. I rarely ever ask myself that question, "Why am I an artist?". I never think about it, I just go with the flow. And... I really don't want to think about it. I don't want to focus on why, I just wanna do what I enjoy, and improve. Improve, improvise, and advance, until I'm not concerned anymore. I'm pretty sick of doubting myself, and I'm hoping college can give me a hand where I need improvement... even if that includes doing what I dread, which is mostly backgrounds and realism.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean for this to be long, but I look up to you. I love your style and you as a person, and I'm happy I clicked on this. Really got me thinking when I needed it most, so thank you for that. Can't wait to see more content >w<

I love the focal point of this painting and the contrast between the darker fish and the albino blue one.

It's good to hear someone else's reason for making art. I found this because I was asking myself why I'm an artist.

Drawing for me is the perfect way to express myself. Im a very "visual" person and more often than not i think in pictures rather than words if thatmakes any sense. I lo ve motion and body language and i find joy in decoding visual symbols and that is why i love creating stuff. Too bad my skills dont match all the things i envision yet

I found art kind of addictive when I felt the flow of a pencil on paper. Even when I was little when I thought of a pencil swoop on paper I got shivers. The beauty and story of an illustration opened up new worlds to me. I have ADHD and all that stuff and art was a way to push out my feelings and thoughts, it was therapy for me. Even now I find life within my characters, beings, and paintings. I am not a professional artist however, I'm not even in college, but I look forward to expanding and getting better.

being an artist changes your perspective of life, it makes it so much more interesting. a normal person would see a bag of chips as a normal object, as an artist, I would acknowledge it's details. I'm very grateful, I was gifted with this talent :)

Everything you said was spot on for me, and I expect for a lot of other artists too. I often ask myself if I even enjoy art, because like you, I feel that I'm obligated to draw because of youtube and school. I'm feeling pressured right now because I'm getting to that point where I need to think about my portfolio. I was at a National Portfolio Day last week and I've been told by top recruiters that I need to draw WAAYY more life, figure, anatomical drawings if I want to get into the school I want to go to. So now more than ever I feel that I'm REQUIRED to draw instead of actually wanting to draw. At the end of the day, I realize that, yea... of course I love art. Same as you, I know that I'm putting the effort in because I care about it.
Just thought I'd share that, I'm sure LOTS of other people go through the exact same thing, that's what so awesome about the artist community <3

I'm an artist because I enjoy it, I love the process of how it takes time for things to work together & the long process of improving.
When I draw I can create literally anything, from a place to a character, whatever I want, I can just create it out of nothing 🌱
I'm also a perfectionist and when i feel happy with a piece and makes me feel very accomplished, same for when i look back at all of the progress i did 🌼💙
Art is a beautiful way yo express yourself and there are no limits to it 🌈

I might be a beginner and still I feel connected to this way of expression yourself 🌼

you have no idea how much i resonate with your reasons. i always felt like i needed a fancy reason like other artists say like: i express deep deep emotions and show them to the world" stuff like that. And i always ask myself why am i an artist, and my answer is always: i love art. i like creating it, my art reflects what im passionate about" and i always thought this was too low for an answer until it made me realize how many times it helped me make decisions such as "if you got jaded from drawing in thsi style for so long, then why dont you change it to the new artists you like and study from them" because if i didnt, then why do i draw? but when i did it fixed everything.

When I was very little, I actually loved to write. I'd fill up composition books with stories about random characters that inspired me from the Saturday cartoons. As I got older I learned about artists and how they'd do commissions or requests to draw your characters. I thought it would be cool to have an artist draw my main characters and for me to tape them to the composition books, kind of like a cover page. I would get a bit frustrated though 'cause no matter how detailed I was, the characters never really looked like I imagined. They never really felt like I pictured them. So one day I started drawing them. After a while I stopped writing and just drew all the time. At some point I started buying manga and realized that I could also tell a story by drawing characters interacting and suddenly the writing/drawing worlds meshed for me, somewhere in middle school. Comics and stories and characters are my passion. As much a part of me as breathing and I couldn't imagine not creating worlds and drawing like I do now. I think art is a form of escapism for me because I can draw these grand adventures and mystical landscapes, invent creatures and magic to get away from the struggles I face in the real world. It's always comforting to come home and lose myself in a character for a while.

Great video and amazing artwork as usual! I'm normally just a lurker but this video really spoke to me.

This was a really great video. For me, art has always been apart of my life. I draw because it's the way I express myself. I'm a quiet person. I don't show much emotion around those I'm not comfortable with. My art allows me a voice I don't have
