I actually did this going on…..4 years now! I put myself on a “depth year” for focus…by February of that first year after not having “something” to focus on, i started to figure studies…soon my figures had no heads, so in July of that first year I focused on portraits…it was a long haul..i bought courses and books to learn properly! Now in 2022 my portraits have improved so much. Recognizable portraits! I now do them in graphite, charcoal, watercolor and pastel! I often look back at my 250 loomis heads and am amazed how far ive come. You’ve gotta put in the work! Portrait studies continue to interest me over anything else.

Watching tv, eating Pringles, scrolling through my phone... Have you been keeping an eye on me?? :D Thank you for your inspiring videos! At 48, I am trying to work on learning to sketch and paint with watercolors. My husband is a phenomenal artist and I always thought it was something you were just born with. I didn't realize you could learn it! :)

If you haven't picked up your sketchbook in a long time, you owe yourself AT LEAST 10 minutes a day to visit that little corner of your soul where lives the secret hope that our art will change the world.

I did this 2 1/2 years ago and last year I was ready for an opportunity to illustrate a couple of children’s books. Best advice if you really want to be a professional artist.

You're just the right push of a coach to help me see things differently with just the right amount of "Mr. Roger's Neighborhood" to nudge me along. Thank you!

I kept sketchbooks just for myself (and my mental well-being) for SO many years before I ever started showing or selling my art. My sketchbook / visual journal practice is what makes everything possible. And you're right, Danny - it just takes minutes a day.

I am 34 years old in September 2022. Out of nowhere I started to find interest in drawing and illustration, so I started to doodle, then I bought a book on illustration by Andrew Loomis, and now I am protocolling my days of drawing. I started about 56 days ago, and for the last 21 days, I drew every single day even if it was just a simple scatch for 10 min. But I am excited about where the road will take me.

I have embellished my journal with drawings for well over two years. Everything you say is “spot on.” I write my journals for my future generations.

You are one of the most inspirational and humble people I have ever come across. Thank you so much for your advice and for helping me figure out a way to get back to doing the things that I love before depression stole them from me.

I'd like to start drawing again.
Today I picked up a small sketch book as did my 14 year old grandson. I challenged him to draw along with me daily and we would share our drawings on messenger. One sketch, one page, one day at a time.
Then, I see this video in my feed! Very inspiring! Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Thank you for inspiring me, Danny! I've often thought about doing a "regular practice" but always made it a chore. Now I'm going to just PLAY every day for two years! (or more!) ♥

I watched a TedTalk about a young man who drew for 365 days. He explained that talent can be a muscle to be exercised. He showed his progress from stick figures to portraits that looked like photographs! Beautifully realistic and gorgeous. This was a revaluation for me as I was struggling with self worth. I made a goal to draw for a year. I didn't keep track I just kept saying I need to make it to April. That was 3 years. I've met so many people through my art and experienced so many new things I didn't know were possible. Thank you for sharing this video. It's short and perfectly explained. 💙

I did exactly this for 5 years when I decided to be a commercial photographer. It worked. Now I am doing it to be a world call artist with my photography. This is the best advice ever.

I started my art journey almost 2 years ago and I cannot believe the progress I've made! I am so excited to continue and see where this journey takes me!

honestly this video is so beautiful it made me cry. I'm an instant subscriber.
the reason it effected me this way is because two weeks ago I started doing exactly what this man is talking about, and it's already paying off so much, and my life is dramatically changing right in front of my eyes. I've never seen so many people rally behind me in support of me being myself, and it's a moment I've been chasing after my entire life.

If anyone reads this comment and is on the fence about whether they should pursue their passion, please please please, dedicate yourself 100% to what you love. You can't imagine the value you really have to offer the world.

I'm at the one year mark. Almost exactly. I had a brain injury almost 10 years ago. Things improved. Then COVID took me back to the worst of it... but, for the first time in my 5 decades, I suddenly had the urge and ability to draw. I've always been a sonic artist. Hopeless visually. Now I draw every free moment of every day. Looking forward to the 2 year mark after seeing this video.
Okay. Now I have to get back to drawing coffee cups. Don't ask me why, but I've drawn hundreds in the last couple months. Thanks for the videos.

I started in April of last year and it has helped me so much surviving all the horrors we see on the news every day.

10 minutes of daily sketchbooking for 2 years? Great idea! I’m 14 days in and having fun. It feels effortless. I forgot how much fun sketching can be. I have no theme. Anything goes. I might try writing one paragraph daily too. ❤ love your inspiring ideas on your channel. Thankyou ❤❤❤
