thanks for doing these rtx 4000 laptop coverage. it seems that not single big channel is bothered with anything less than 4080. maybe its because except 4050 theres not much improvement but at least thanks to you we know now :)

Thank you so much for talking about this! I have a 140W RTX 4060, and I noticed I was not getting anywhere near 140W while playing. That kind of stinks that Nvidia is capping the wattage.

after watching a number of reviews / benchmarks etc over the last few weeks, i came to the similar conclusion that there was something wrong with the wattage being used on the RTX 4000`s Gpu`s. Thanks for pointing this out Hubwood. 👍👍👍👍

Hey, thanks a lot for doing these tests! I'm afraid not only have we lost the "max-q" moniker years ago, anyone even attempting to do research on their next gaming laptop can still be mislead when looking at the wattage. Also, really enjoy the commentary. I know this one is a special case, but some kind of commentary over the benchmarks/footage is always welcomed, especially to the uniformed.

Interesting about the low wattage cap. If that is true I bet you could hit the max boost with an undervolt and use even less power, for example the Flow x13 having only a 60watt maximum could probably achieve close to full power with an undervolt. I'm very excited to get my hands on a thin and light with one of these cards and testing it.

When you mentioned the 4060 and 4070 behaving the same, do they also cap out that low (85-95 watt) or is their cap significantly higher?

Maybe in future games that demand more wattage will use 140W. Again this also might be the rtx 4050 itself doesn't need that much wattage for it to perform

Note that the lower power MSI 4050 has an Intel processor, which is likely the cause of its better performance in most games.

I think it would also be better to be consistent, and just refer to each by it's boosted max spec like everyone else... with a disclaimer. The 140W version in this test rarely goes above 85W either!

Desktop 4050 and 4060 will be epic fails.. AMD knows how to make budget bang for buck GPU like rx6600 with 128 bit bus, they always had good one in the line up, Nvidia never as far as i remember. So when i see 128bit Nvidia i kind of know it will be crap..

Can I also ask you please?
I'm leaning towards an MSI katana with 4070 on 105w and i7-13620H or a Gigabyte aeros with 4070 140w and i7-13700H. The extra charge for the gigabyte is 500 euros, which really puts me off. Do you think it's worth the extra cost? Full HD and 60-70 FPS would be completely sufficient for me on the 17 inch screen. I would be happy about an answer

saw on a website listed a laptop with rtx 4050 but of 75w. So I understand that this rtx 4050 is 45, 75, 105 and 140w??
Maybe you can make a video with RTX 75w.
