I'm a cop. The rules don't apply to me 🙄. Unfortunately, it's become necessary for Uber and Lyft drivers to have a camera because of the sociopaths who are not able to behave themselves in a car

I love how the driver shifted the refund issue to Uber just like cops shift the blame when they do something wrong. That was priceless.

He got in the car. That’s the only consent you need. If you didn’t see the sign that’s your fault. If he’s a cop he should know the dangers of being a rideshare driver and that drivers always need documentation of incidents.

Being that there is a sticker on the window saying they are recording, the consent is given when he entered the car and then confirmed when he saw the second notice and chose to continue the ride.

Why does it not suprise me that a cop is ignorant of the law?

No person that transports strangers alone at all hours of the day and night should be kept from recording. Those jobs are to dangerous not to use video and audio recording as a deterrent and possible evidence in case of a crime.
