I guess Elden Ring is Fromsoftwares way of telling other studios to put their foolish ambitions to rest.

Elden Ring proves that good game design is the future of video games and not live service or NFT

Spot on. As soon as I finished Elden Ring, I looked at my Steam library for what to play next and just booted up Elden Ring again for round 2.

Elden Ring really raised the bar, which is good cause the bar got dangerously close to the floor.

After dumping 400+ hours I've been looking to other games to avoid burning myself out on it and... let's just say Elden Ring has left a gargantuan dopamine void that is basically impossible for another game to fill.

I felt the same. Payed 60$ for the Halo campaign and I was more or less satisfied, it wasnt particularly good but at least it wasnt bad. The elden ring came out and I remembered how a true open world should be, and now Halo feels like wasted money.

As someone who has dumped 8k hours into unmodded skyrim I would like to say that from 2011 to 2021 Skyrim was the pinnacle of RPGs to me and now Elden Ring has ruined Skyrim for me.

Elden Ring made me get into racing games because they're too far removed to compare.

Had this problem since OG Demon's Souls. Playing any other game next to the current Fromsoft title, either the Combat sucks, the world feels soul-less or the lack of meaningful multiplayer makes any effort to grow as a player feel utterly pointless...

I literally can’t play Horizon: Forbidden West for more than ten minutes without thinking ‘this shit is boring, I could just play Elden ring again.’

I felt the same way after achieving 100%. I caught myself staring blankly at my game library, or browsing my wishlist and upcoming games, but nothing arrests my attention. After Elden Ring everything else feels sub par. Its an ocean of grey...

Elden Ring's gameplay loop is just too good. I love the endless build variety that rewards thoughtful and intelligent combinations of your tools. I always feel smart when I come up with an effective build by myself.

That's how I felt for YEARS after first picking up Dark Souls. Nothing I tried playing could compare.

I honestly am having this problem as well. I finished my 8th ER run and thought “you know what I’m going back to the older games” and immediately felt irritated that there was no jump button specifically. Now I’m depressed :(

I was expecting him to joke that he didn’t like elden ring because of skyrim.

This has been me with Forbidden west. I've made multiple attempts to keep playing it, but I just get frustrated by the unending Crafting and annoying mounts.

Speaking of really good stealth games, that exact example happened to me: I played both Thief and Thief 2 in the 2000s and I have yet to see the mechanics it laid down improved on. Thief 2 is the entire concept of a stealth game codified, honed, and perfected and nothing else has even come close to being that good, not even the OTHER Thief games.

literally what happened to me after my first dark souls, which was the third one. I completed that game, I spents hours upon hours on the pvp, mezmerised at all the choices I had now that I was at pontiff with all the weapons and armor I had collected up until that part of the game. After being stuck in pvp for I think a good 40 hrs where I did not advance with the game at all, I finished the game. Then I finished it again, then I made another character and finished it again. After the 350 hrs that it took me to do all that, I was finally burnt out on the game, but when it came time to go back to the other games I loved pre dark souls, I couldn't bring myself to enjoy them. Even a masterpiece by all accounts like the Witcher 3 felt like nothing compared to the experience I had just had with DS3.
I mean, I love the witcher 3 and skyrim and all those other RPGs now, but right after having played DS3 they all felt like 4-5/10s to me.
