The REAL reason your fingers wrinkle when in the bath

I recently read this amazing article that showed a study hinting at the true reason our fingers wrinkle in the bath.

For me it was a very inspiring and thought provoking thing not just because it support the long held and long disregarded theory that we evolved from aquatic apes but more importantly it was something obvious and simple that the whole of the human race has misinterpreted since the dawn of time.

So for generations parents have told their children its time to come out of the bath when their hands wrinkle, when infact its a sign your body has adapted and its time to get going.

It makes me question how many other hidden abilities we have we dont know about or understand and how many other things have we misunderstood.

Could depression , anxiety and other mental illnesses be adaptive responses and thus something we should be working with not trying to prevent?

As our consciousness raises as a race will we find that many of the things we dont understand have a hidden purpose.

How many times we do things on the basis of wrong information!
How to get out of the water when wrinkles form on the fingers ... thinking that we were already too.
And how many times we limit our growth with the wrong information?

This is more evidence, possibly, to support the idea that we are descended from aquatic Apes. Other Apes (Chimps for example) don't have aquatic features like we have (webbing on the fingers, downward facing nostrils, an ability to swim as soon as we're born). Has anyone tested Chimps fingers to see if they wrinkle in water? Interesting stuff.

I came across the following which adds to the evidence
"research into the process(es) underlying wrinkling of the skin of the fingers following immersion in water in life have hypothesised that water permeates sweat ducts and alters the electrolyte composition, following which autonomic nerve fibres in the digits are triggered. These mediate vasoconstriction, resulting in negative digit pulp pressure (Wilder-Smith and Chow 2002 and 2003)." if nerves are triggered in one hand, that could signal both hands to react via the brain connection. very neat experiment! (and great show of patience! =) )

I was wondering where you were going with this but it did end up being really interesting. I think I'm going to try this out some time.

Watching this video I thought of another experiment. Would it be possible to cause wrinkles on the fingers just meditating and imagining yourself in the water?
I think it is possible, but demands time and a lot If concentration. What do you think about try this, Martin?
