Have you watched Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, Loyal Theorists? I liked the Dreamworks movie so much that I watched it TWICE! But there was one thing that stood out to me… Puss in Boots should have DIED way more than he did! Forget about the Wolf, Death; Puss is a threat to himself. So how many times would he have died? I'm surprised he didn't support the milk death by pointing out how the 9 glasses represent each of his lives, and that Death showing up during that scene could imply Puss was going to drink himself to death

Here's an interesting detail: All eight of Puss' deaths were a direct result of his devil-may-care attitude towards death - none of them were from normal occupational hazards for an outlaw adventurer such as himself. Puss never needed extra lives to continue his adventurer career to begin with; he just needed to stop being so reckless (Of course, having a couple of good friends to watch his back couldn't hurt).

Pretty sure Deaths final words in Spanish were "i shouldnt have played with my food" which means he was following him the whole movie for the fun of it.

Another thing that shows how powerful a Cat’s hearing is: Cats don’t follow you because they don’t need to, they follow you with their ears. Cats love to lay down in what I call “Sound Centers”, basically areas of a house where sound from a majority of the rooms nearby can be easily heard. That why if a cat is starting to get older and is starting to go deaf (as old cats do) they start to meow out of nowhere, they lost track of you and aren’t used to it.

Puss in Boots 2 was an amazing film. I was blown away with the animation, story, and the fact that there were 3 antagonists that didn't conflict with each other. I really hope we get another film like this from Dreamworks. It seems to be teased that Shrek 5 will happen, so hopefully they carry the momentum into that film

Matpat just made me realize that him having 8 glasses of milk and moving onto his 9th is representing his lives and I have to thank Mat for pointing that out, unintentionally.

i love that even the villians in this movie were never super annoying or over-powered at all. like yeah, death was a lot stronger than puss at first, but we only saw them fight twice and both times he never actually beat him up in a way that seemed almost unfair. it made it so fun to watch because all of the characters had their funny and quirky moments, i loved this movie a lot!

A detail I noticed. When Puss in Boots is in the bar after being told to be a lap-cat, we already see he'd finished *eight* shots of milk and is working on his *ninth* before Death shows up, but never finishes it because Death interfered. This parallels his wasting of eight lives, and the likelihood of him finishing his last before his encounter with Death.

5:08 However, it could’ve easily been Cat Milk. I own two cats, and in our fridge we have small cartons of milk called “Cat Milk” that cats can drink without consequences. The bartender probably just knew he wanted Cat Milk.

Eight drinks and a ninth one he's drinking, telling the bartender to "Make it your heaviest"

Just making me love this movie more and more

Little late, but hope they read this theory.

Death low key saved everyone. Throughout the movie he has the uncanny ability to appear anywhere, and haunting puss.

At any time, he could have gone after Jack Horner.

Maybe he sensed the potential death of all magical things in the future and seen an arrogant little legend as the one that could save everyone.

He does seem to value life after all, pissed at puss for throwing away so many lives carelessly.

He appeared and scared puss into hiding, where goldi and the 3 bears would eventually find him, along with purrito.

He was wasting away into food and laziness, death could have came after him at any moment during the Mr pickles part. Instead. He kept agging puss into going for the wishing star. Why?

He could get them to stop jack Horner and maybe even strike enough sense into puss to finally value his one last life. He could have let puss wish for more lives but called him out at the cowardice of it. It would have neglected addressing the lack of value puss had for his lives.

Now I'm sure death would have no problem dealing and guiding countless into the afterlife, but it makes sense he would value life the most because he sees it, over and over and over again how fragile and fleeting it is.

So nudging puss into the wishing star where Jack Horner was going to reach regardless was deaths gamble of saving everyone, or saving no one.

It's kinda interesting that Death follows some of the things that Mat already mentioned, like the lack of boots or shoes, uncovering his ears when he gets to fight, and although he still uses clothing that could get attached to something, is way bigger and easily detachable.

The death whistle is a vibe until u pause it and still hear it behind you 💀💀

I’ll take good character design over how realistic something is any day. Puss is so cool thanks in part to his attire. An extremely recognizable silhouette.

After Mat pointed out the death by hat, I can't help but appreciate the fact that Death appears on Puss right, where the hat is longer

MatPat just proved how powerful puss is. He has a disadvantage in every fight and wins

I'm convinced this entire theory was conceived and written around MatPat getting to complain about Puss being on Hotones before him

Interesting thing of note about that bar scene: ever notice how, every time Puss is in a life-or-death situation that could have killed him, Death would be there in the shadows? The film was subtly inferring Puss was about to lose his last life in that bar. I love this film's visual storytelling so SO much. =^.^=

You are spot on with the Mama Luna thing. I once heard, you should have one more litter box than the number of cats you have. For 45 cats, she should have had 46 litter boxes, which would probably overtake the space of her house.

Puss In Boots: The Last Wish is probably one of the best animated movies to date, 11/10 bare minimum, I love animation so much.
