Hi Dr Cliff. I’m 36 & I’ve recently been for a hearing test. I now no that I suffer from moderate to severe high frequency loss, tinnitus & damage to the nerve. “the hearing clinic uk” have told me to go to the NHS for a brain scan at the ENT hospital to check everything is ok then I’ll go back to the hearing clinic uk to talk to them about my results & then hearing aids. I know from looking at your videos that the set up of the hearing aid is the most important part & I’m confident that the lady that I’m working with at the Clinc will do a fine job. I want a full shell or half shell ITE style aid & with full specifications Bluetooth iPhone connectivity rechargeable ect. (top of the range) My question is what brand to go for? I want reliability & build quality? If you could suggest two or three for me to look at before I go back to the clinic at least I’ll have a slight insight to go by. Thanks Dr I’ve enjoyed watching your videos. And I’m now a subscriber.

Great video about new hearing aide capabilities but what is one doing to make them more affordable as more people who need hearing aides are low come disabled and elderly. There are programs for hearing impared children but none for adults. Insurances do not cover them fully mine as for 600 copay or more depending on which hearing aide type i need etc. That is 300 or more each. Low income or disabled elderly and not afford it or even a payment plan to afford as one can not get blood from a stone. How do you see helping this community get affordable hearing aides with features like you mention as they need them to hear to and often more expensive. There really is no help for this community and often they go without or older hearing aides that do not help. I am one of them.

Hi Dr Cliff, thank you for your videos
Hearing loss and distortion question!: I have a similar amount of high-frequency hearing loss in both ears, and am scheduled for hearing aids soon. My current issue is distortion in my left year that became very noticeable when ear wax was removed from that ear in December. There was a tiny bit of distortion before that on 2 frequencies, and then a lot of distortion after wax removal. My audiologist and ENT are unable to say why the left ear is distorted, and why it became noticeable at that time. Any ideas of avenues I should look at? Left ear also feels more blocked than right, although the hearing test data are similar.

Hi Dr. Cliff, first thanks for your informative videos. I am in the process of getting my first hearing aids and I am extremely confused. I first went to a hearing aid center and the specialist recommended a Oticon More One. I went to an actual audiologist and he recommends Resound One. I also went to Costco since they are often cheaper and the specialist there said that it did not make that much difference which hearing aid I got so long as it is in the premium class. All 3 gave me extensive hearing tests and the audiometry results are pretty similar for all 3 tests. So what the hell do I do? LOL

I currently have a unitron moxi 9 & am in places 80% deaf & struggle with background noise. This is isolating me as I struggle massively with hearing conversations. Could you please advise if you feel I would benefit from buying a Roger pen to go with the hearing aids? I welcome your advice.

I have learned so much from your videos that I would first like to thank you for posting them. That said, I am having a terrible time purchasing new hearing aids because of my small and twisty ear canals. It seems like the newest hearing aids have made their in ear portion of the RIC larger and also the hearing aid itself is larger such that the ear part will not stay in my ear and irritates my ear. I can't find something that doesn't physically hurt. Any suggestions?

Wow ... that Phonak multi-vent feature sounds cool, Cliff. Hmmm ... and my Phonak Audeo Paradise 90R could have it. Right???

One feature that I'd like to see is what the Sony earphones do, they pause the stream if when your voice is detected. Always useful (unless you're signing out on music.)

Also noise cancelling function, but I understand that can be a safety risk.

I hope Oticon is able to connect to more than one bluetooth device someday! I currently have to turn the Bluetooth off on my computer, then turn on my Connect Clip to have it connect to my phone for phone conferences. Then turn the Bluetooth off on the phone, and on on the computer to switch back to watch some shows. It's a pain. Still better than headphones and all that, but if it could connect to the two devices there would be so much less juggling. And heck, it should be easier on the Connect Clip since it's bigger than the hearing aids.

Hey Cliff what do you think the chances are that they build an in ear hearing aid for severe to profound hearing loss in the near future? BTe hearing aids are in deep need of being more discreet and the microphones being places behind the ear are always severely affected by hair, hats, glasses, wind

Thanks again for your highly informative videos, Dr. Cliff. Do you think we will ever see a combination hearing aid/ear plug that gives the user amplification when they need it and decibel reduction with specific decibel threshold maximums when they need it? Maybe some kind of an ActiveVent on steroids or some fully occluding device with different settings than anything on the market now? Because that's the hearing product that I want, and others who work in loud environments might want one as well.

Question, Edge mode from Starkey. Is it really that revolutionary compared to the competition? Can't such an option be specially programmed and added as a separate program? For example, an audiologist specially programs this special program to be like edge mode.
