No more tool foam!

At least not for me. I love it for its sexiness, organizing everything in a dedicated spot, but I had it for its lack of efficient use of space and especially its modularity/adaptability. But people are very passionate about their tool storage, so let the discussion begin… 😂 #woodworking #woodshop #tool #storage #foam #kaizenfoam #toolorganization

Gotta mortgage my house to buy a laser so I can organize my drawers!

I agree foam tool organization is good for a case that has that one special tool, like some fancy test equipment or maybe your 10mm but not your entire box

The foam looks way better organized.
He just needed another excuse to-use his laser😂

Kaizen foam style is for 1 purpose: findability. The idea is to be able to see (ideally from a distance) that a tool is not in its home.

If it's not in its home you need to stop work and find it

In drawers, at home, it's significantly less than ideal

Another advantage to the foam organizers(and why I want them for my boxes) is that you see when a tool is missing.

Think i will combine this with smaller foam outlines where it makes sense and lockable socket posts, since i need some sort of trabsportable tool chest or remove section or types at times. Ive got a narrow tool cart for near the car in a narrow garage and then my square tool bag but if i want to take car related items on a trip or address a car problem i need grab and go. Trying to avoid redundant sets of tools.

agree with you. Foam organisers look fancy but they assume your toolbox will stay unchanged forever! (plus, not space efficient)

The foam looks great and you know what is missing, but it takes some real estate in a toolbox that is probably already overloaded.

Yes! I divide my drawers like this. But I don’t have a fancy laser and have to do it the old fashioned way. I gotta get me a fancy laser!!!

Brilliant use of laser cutter jigs to retrofit quickly and easily! I will be using that

foam is a game changer for telling when my father or brother came and borrowed a tool

When you can't afford a laser !!foam is the solution 😂

Foam also secures the tools in place. Good for traveling toolbox maybe, but you dont need that in a stationary toolbox. The tradeoff to security is harder accessibility. Its far easier to grab a tool without foam cut out around it.

Brilliant. Your brain always looks at the system and how to maximize/optimize it. Great mindset!!

All you have to do is borrow enough money to buy a home for the machine to make these! 😂

+1 on the modularity. However, I suggest that, in general, you don't need full-depth dividers. Having horter dividers makes it easier to have narrow bays and still be able to get to small tools.

i can put foam into dividers, Thanks Paul LOL

I especially like the two divisions on the left that you cannot get your hand in to. Even better though, the exact tools required to retrieve the tools in these compartments, are in these compartments… 😂

The foam is only worth the effort if you are OCD or working on air vehicles (a missing screwdriver can wreck a multi million dollar piece of equipment and risk a multitude of lives).

Like the Idea! The foam is one and done, with the slots you can change things up as your workflow or tools change. Easy peasy to change up the drawer. You can even do both if you want.
