I was excited to ride the Hypermotard SP, but the ride didn't go exactly as planned...

Put it in its sport mode and turn off its wheelie control. She comes alive. Got mine 2 years ago and it’s my forever bike. I’m not a speed demon so it’s perfect for me.

If you love the 701, a closer comparison may be the Hypermotard 698 mono. It's like the 950's little brother. Just as rowdy, but less mean. Picked one up earlier this year and am loving it.

The Hypermotard 950 SP is my favorite bike I’ve ever owned. Once you get good on it, it becomes an absolute weapon in the corners.

Love My 950SP... Handles well, power wheelies easily for me in 3rd and 4th, comfortable for riding through the city and quick enough to run with sportbikes through the curves. Nice Vid 👊😎🫡

As a Hyper 950 owner my view is this. The 701 or new 698 Duc has more useable power in the urban environment. I love my 950 and I live outside the city so I can run on some “backroad “ twisty areas. The 950 is a blast but the 701 size & power are addictive in the tight stuff.

IDK man, I don't get why people compare the 950 to true supermotos like the 701. It's just a completely different category. OK, let me rephrase — I get why people compare them, because the 950 borrows the design cues: tall stance, wide bars, aggressive styling. But once you actually ride them, you realize they have totally different goals.

The 950 looks like a rally car — something built to slide and flick around — but once you fire it up, it reveals itself as a purebred track car: mid-mounted V10, active aero, stiff suspension, massive grip and brutal speed. Meanwhile, the 701 delivers exactly what it promises: lightweight, playful, precision control.

If you buy a 950 expecting a pure supermoto experience, you’re going to be frustrated. It’s a different machine, and it rides on its own terms.

I've got the Hypermotard 821 great bike despite typical Ducati problems.
Also have a CR500AF supermoto.
The seating position helps my 55 yo body not hurt so much after the ride compared to their stablemate CBR1000RR.

Based on what I saw in this video; I recommend you get the Husky 701 and leave the Hyper in the showroom. From your video, you live in a flat grid pattern town. The Hyper excels at performing in twisties, both closed technical as well as sweepers. As you can tell, it can do wheelies, but that gets old fast. Straight line riding; while the Hyper will do it, its great capabilities are lost in that environment. I have a Hyper SP 950 and I just returned from a day of seekers and twisties in a redwood forest with highly technical roads where the Hyper, thanks to its Desmo motor seems to have endless torque. While it'll easily do triple-digit speeds; that's not really riding - it's simply going fast. With the 701; once you get over the wheelie thin, you can mount knobbies and find some dirt terrain.
