I Got Sick at K2 | Battling Pakistan's Toughest Trek

After making it to Concordia, I thought I’d seen the toughest part of the trek. But things took a sharp turn just as we were gearing up for the GGLA pass (Gondogoro La). In this video, you’ll see the last stretch of the K2 base camp trek, including the day I got sick…

From stunning landscapes to physical and mental struggles, this part of the trek pushed me further than I thought possible. The mountains had something different in store for me than I expected, but it was an adventure I’ll probably never forget.

In this video, you’ll see days seven to twelve of the trek:
*Day Seven: The landscape changes dramatically as we head from Goro 2 to Concordia.
*Day Eight: A rest day at Concordia, waiting on the weather to see if we’ll get the chance to cross the GGLA pass.
*Day Nine: The day I got sick. I had to turn back, leaving my dream of GGLA behind.
*Day Ten: Trekking back to Liligo camp, still feeling terrible.
*Day Eleven: Continuing the journey on horseback, learning to let go of my ego and accept my limits.
*Day Twelve: The final stretch.
*Porter dedication: taking a moment to appreciate these unsung heroes of treks like K2.

Good to be honest with yourself. It saved your life Thank God. You could go to the K2 base camp 10 times if you're alive, it's completely normal. So enjoy your life, there are 100s of other places in the world unless it was part of your bucket list. You kicked ass! I remember in 1990 catching Giardia from water boiled in a leaking pressure cooker at 15, 000 at Gokyo. Finished the Solo Khumbu in 2 ft. of snow doing a 6000ft. decsent and a 4000ft ascent one day on the way out to Jiri, solo, carrying my own pack, with strep throat and Giardia. After 130 miles of treking, I learned a lot about myself. I love your positivity, and understand!
