Turning a rotten Alder tree into a Log Hive for Swarm Season. A lot of rotten trees / snags are felled and turned into wood chips which is actually destroying Swarm Habitat. Fortunately, a lot of arborist, general contractors and landowners are willing to part with these logs for free so they can be turned into Log Beehives.

Thanks for watching! Please hit "like" and "subscribe" and share the video around - it helps me out SO much.

Please consider supporting my work swarm habitat project. I don't charge to install log hives or swarms but rely on donations of any size from supporters of #swarmhabitat:

Alder rots really quickly. And alder that’s already rotting is not going to last long at all.

Like your log hives, and your methods. You’ve provided inspiration for me to build one myself. I hollowed out a log from a pine I had to fall due to storm damage. Hope to get it done and populated in the coming spring.

Love the log hive
See you many times on Marty’s lives and finally made it across to check out your channel. I got my first hive about 2 months ago

Great video (and videos). Such hives are illegal here in VA, or I'd be all over this.

Do you recommend any particular type of log bro? I have access to ash, Scots pine, birch, elder, spruce, alder, willow. You know what I have too many questions.. Can I buy a consult? 😊🙏🐝
