EVE-NG - First Time Configuration

EVE-NG Is an amazing network emulation tool that you can use to learn networking concepts of various vendors by connecting virtual equipment and working on the equipment as if it was real equipment.

In this video we will be taking a look at how to do the initial installation of EVE-NG and how to connect to EVE-NG once done. You will be guided step by step on where to download the EVE-NG ISO, how to install the VM using VMWARE Workstation Player 15 and how to run the installation of EVE-NG.

I followed this guide as well as the follow up video where the Mikrotik image is imported, however I couldn't get the networking to work. When I imported the OVA, however, it worked straight away. I did make sure that my vSwitch had promiscuous enabled, and the VM settings included virtualization passthrough. I couldn't find anything else to try so I'm not sure what the difference is. Just an FYI for anyone else that may be having the same issue, at least with the version(s) of the EVE-NG and Mikrotik image that are currently being distributed.

Found your channel recently and must say you're one of my favs to watch and learn, specifically Mikrotik. First I heard of EVE-NG too. On that note, and feel awkward asking here but can't seem to get any feedback from EVE. I installed ISO image on ESXi server (Dell r710/48GB RAM/2xQuad XEONs) but have an issue w/ Mikrotik RTRs not starting w/ syslog error eve-ng systemd-udevd[58488]: Could not generate persistent MAC address for vunl0_1_6: No such file or directory. EVE-NG post w/ this error CLOSED w/ "Not our bug". No other info. I Installed on my local mach and get same error. Wonder if you experienced this and if so, how to solve. Keep up the great content! Loved the one on Wireguard...

Hello, I tried downloading the eve-ng file from the website, but there is no file I can start the application with. I also got the vmware workstation and it says this once I create a vm:

Error while powering on: This host supports AMD-V, but AMD-V is disabled.

AMD-V might be disabled if it has been disabled in the BIOS/firmware settings or the host has not been power-cycled since changing this setting.

(1) Verify that the BIOS/firmware settings enable AMD-V.

(2) Power-cycle the host if this BIOS/firmware setting has been changed.

(3) Power-cycle the host if you have not done so since installing VMware Player.

(4) Update the host's BIOS/firmware to the latest version.

VMware Player does not support the user level monitor on this host.

Module 'MonitorMode' power on failed.

Failed to start the virtual machine.

If I understod you right, then you have a physical device, on which you are installing workstation player, which is creating a NAT into your physical adapter on your device itself.
then you once you are having an eve-ng vm (ubuntu based installed) you are pointing this natted virtual device as a gateway for your eve-ng instance which is within the vm itself, creating another NAT for eve-ng webservice, which you are connecting to get into eve-ng web interface ?
so double-nat scenario here ?

I don't get it I have done the setup with the community version twice. All goes well but when it finishes the basic config the system reboots with a black screen and the webUI doesn't work. I can SSH into the system and when I check Apache status it is running but still nothing on the screen and no webUI. Just as a side note which I doubt makes much difference, I am running it on Proxmox. Can anyone please advise on this matter?

I did the eve setup months ago and doing full time lab practice in it....so its fully setup now....i want to change my management IP of eve which comes at initial your blog where you suggested to remove the configured file which will take me back to intial setup config...will that also reset or format my whole eve....because if thats a yes then i dont want to reconfigure the IP, because i cant compromise my whole setup with lots of images and labs installed ... please let me know the answer
