In this talk the speaker will discuss subsea robots developed in Norway and the extensive national infrastructure built up for testing them. One day we may see similar robots exploring Ocean Worlds beyond Earth.
The discussion will cover technologies required for advanced robotics, such as secure communication protocols and implementation of these for autonomous vehicles; a showcase of the robots (Hugin Superior, snake robots, including Eelume) and their capabilities; and the national test infrastructure, including the Ocean Space Center (A multi-step national cooperation project for large-scale testing located in Trondheim, Norway), to support current and future technologies within autonomous sea vehicles - surface and subsea.
Focus will be on the robots.

Our Speaker: Peter Haro is a researcher and the principal developer at SINTEF Nord. He has a background in big-data analysis, machine learning and decision support systems for multiple domains. He has worked with safety critical application and communication protocols systems for real-time systems in aviation and robotics, for autonomous systems and hydroacoustic mapping.
