I struggled with this too. When I first read it and understood it the way I understood it. It gave me incredible fear, anxiety and hopelessness. Having fear and hopelessness after reading God’s word should be a red flag immediately. 2nd Timothy says for God gave us not a spirit of fearfulness, but of power, and of love, and a sound mind. If your immediate thought is of fear, hopelessness and no way out of it, then that means that thought is not from God but from the devil. The devil will always find a way to pervert the truth. He did it with Jesus himself in the wilderness.

I am very blessed by this message, thank you Pastor David Guzik. A very balanced message and very much demystified the phrases that I had been struggling with for a long time. God bless your work!

Wow...did this ever help me. I am guilty of being a perennial backslider, and having read Heb. 6:4-6, I thought I was doomed without hope. As Pastor Guzik explained this, I remembered (1) Jesus said, "No man cometh unto the Father, but by me[;]" (2) Jesus told Peter to forgive someone who offended him 490 times in one day; and (3) Jesus said, "All manner of sin among men can be forgiven[.]" That, and the Old Testament is filled with examples of Israel falling into sin, and God offering them renewal. Whew!! I am relieved, to say the very least.

I fell away 24 years ago because I did not resist the temptation and stayed in it. The Holy Spirit left me. I quickly began to bear evil fruit. I have been trying to return to faith for the last 4 years. I have regular conversations with the pastor, I read the Bible, I go to church regularly, but still I can't go back, my heart is hard and there is almost nothing left of me as a person. But I want to go back so I don't have to go to eternal destruction. This life has also remained completely empty, without blessing.

I was struggling on understanding Hebrews 6 but I'm glad I ran into this that clarified but I was reading even though there's more parts the rest of the chapter but this is beautiful. I like that the password dispelled a couple of sentences that should never been said that come from the pit of hell. Y'all want to know just listen to this clearly. Go to your Bible King James first and then New Kings James to help you... God knows your heart

I been struggling lately because I came across this verse as well as chapter 10 and 2 peter 2 20. And I feel that that was me, that I knew him and after some difficulty I went astray, I ended up doing drugs and adultery for a while but I believe that he was able to rescue me from those wrong choices I made, but since I came across those verses my faith has been shaking, I see fruits in my life and I don't want to go back to that lifestyle anymore which makes me wonder how do I know if that verse is for me and if I indeed have been forgiven for those things I did.

Peter says this about Paul :"He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction. (2 Peter )

Not “Once saved, always saved.” but “Once justified, always justified.” We are exhorted to work out our salvation for G-d’s glory.

I guess it helps that he looks like Richard Dreyfuss! With mannerisms and all, but of course this preacher is really down to earth with Bible teachings and presents the word with a very good sense of "Biblical practicalities", no big theological terms to impress listeners, no, just good common every-day grammar and easy-to-understand lingo...thank you Brother!

You do not build a doctrine or belief on the basis of one biblical passage (Hebrews 6:4-6) and a cardinal rule of sound Bible interpretation is that when there are numerous biblical verses that clearly teach the eternal security of the believer (i.e. John 6:37, 39; John 10: 27-29; John 17:2, 3; Romans 8:30, 37-39; Acts 13:48; Psalm 37: 28; etc.) you always interpret some difficult or obscure (uncertain) passage in the light of those passages whose clear meaning had already been established; in other words, Hebrews 6:4-6 must be interpreted in the light of John 6:37, 39; John 10:27-29; John 17:2-3; Romans 8:30, 37-39; Psalm 37:28; etc., not the other way around.

If it was genuine salvation, you do not have it one time and lose it another. The gift of God is eternal life--and if eternal and by God's grace through faith in Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5), you can't lose it anymore that you could have earned it. Sinners without Christ will serve the old sinful (carnal) nature or heart with its natural desires and appetites for the things of the flesh, the world and the devil, not the Spirit (see 1 Corinthians 2:14; Ephesians 2:1-3; Romans 8:9) for a lifetime, unless they experience genuine conversion through the heart and life-transforming power of the Spirit of God and faith in Jesus Christ (2 Cor. 5:17). But once they do, they might struggle and stumble at times, but they will not want to go back to serving the desires and fleshly lusts of the old, sinful, fallen nature, but instead they will be inclined towards the spiritual desires and interests of the new (spiritual) creation they have become through faith in Christ (2 Cor. 5:17) --and that new (spiritual) creation is eternal (unending) because salvation in its broadest sense or scope includes salvation past (I have been saved), present (I am being saved) and future (I will yet be saved), corresponding to the Spirit's working in our lives in the past (calling, new birth or regeneration and justification), present ( sanctification) and future (glorification) ; in short, it is ongoing and eternal, if indeed, it is the work of God, not the work of man. Many believers fail to comprehend that ongoing process or progressive working of God's Spirit (redemption) in the life of a believer until he/she stands blameless and spotless in the Presence of the Lamb of God slain from before the foundation of the world for all eternity. God bless.

No doubt of the truth related here. Satan and many others were once among the highest of the Angels. Clearly they had fallen away. Always guide the way of your life with a lighthouse. Never get lost at sea or dashed upon the rocks. Let Jesus be that Lighthouse.

12 𝐁𝐄𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐄, brethren, lest there be in any of you an 𝐄𝐕𝐈𝐋 𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐓 𝐨𝐟 𝐔𝐍𝐁𝐄𝐋𝐈𝐄𝐅 in 𝐃𝐄𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐅𝐑𝐎𝐌 the living God;
13 but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today, ” lest any of you be 𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐃𝐄𝐍𝐄𝐃 through the 𝐃𝐄𝐂𝐄𝐈𝐓𝐅𝐔𝐋𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐒 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐈𝐍.

14 For we have become partakers of Christ 𝐈𝐅 we 𝐇𝐎𝐋𝐃 the beginning of our confidence 𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐅𝐀𝐒𝐓 to the end,
15 while it is said:
“Today, if you will hear His voice,
𝐃𝐎 𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐃𝐄𝐍 your hearts as in the rebellion.”

18 And to whom did He swear that they 𝐖𝐎𝐔𝐋𝐃 𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐑 His rest, but to those who 𝐃𝐈𝐃 𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝐎𝐁𝐄𝐘?
19 So we see that 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐘 𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐋𝐃 𝐍𝐎𝐓 enter in because of 𝐔𝐍𝐁𝐄𝐋𝐈𝐄𝐅.

Hebrews 3:12-15, 18-19

16 If anyone sees his brother sinning a sin which does not lead to death, he will ask, and He will give him life for those who commit sin not leading to death. There is 𝐒𝐈𝐍 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐎 𝐃𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐇. I do not say that he should pray about that.
1 John 5:16

Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it 𝐖𝐈𝐋𝐋 𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝐛𝐞 𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐆𝐈𝐕𝐄𝐍 him, either 𝐈𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐀𝐆𝐄 or in the age to come.

God help me I'm really struggling with this passage. It has affected my prayer life in making me doubt that God will answer and not to expect anything now as stated in James 1:6-8 since I feel it has made me double-minded and unstable. I've been calling and texting everybody I know to try and talk me out of spiraling into mental chaos over this as there was a very frightening and confusing experience I had a year and a half ago in which I willfully sinned against the urge of the Holy Spirit telling me not to that made me severely question my salvation and haven't been able to tell if I'm still saved. I watched the John Piper and Allistair Begg sermons online about Hebrews 6 also to see what they had to say about it and I'm very afraid God has hardened my heart due to my persistent sinning like he did to Pharoah when he willfully sinned. I need prayers for confirmation of my salvation, I feel like I gave up my ticket and can't get it back
