For a 25 year period that stretched from 1981 to 2006, eight MiG-25s of the Trisonics squadron based in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, flew unchallenged over Pakistan (and sometimes Tibet), taking countless high definition photographs and radar images of the situation on the ground. On an average they flew 10-15 missions a month.

No one knew India had MiG 25s at the time. And it shouldn’t be surprising that the public has knowledge of all IAF assets today. It’s quite possible that we don’t know if Agni VI is still in development phase or deployed, the fifth generation AMCA might as well be deployed, 15, 000 crores allocated to it might be for upgrades. We might not have any idea about the existence of hypersonic missiles in the armed forces nor the existence of long range SLBMs in our nuclear attack submarines. Now of course this is just a theory. If we can hide nuclear tests, then we are capable of hidings much bigger secrets from the world and our own people…
