Great job! Can’t get enough stuff off the floor. The higher you can get stuff, the more you can fit 👍

Very well thought out plan. My big takeaway is the need to have the hoist placed at least as far away as the distance of the lift. Obvious now but I was not thinking correctly on that. I also learned a lot about pulleys and mechanical advantage. But I’m not clear on whether I want to trade off speed for more efficient lifting. Finally, the chain to take strain off the hoist seems very important. I learned a lot here. Thanks.

I like it! Lord knows I could use one to get a lot of stuff out of the way! 🤣 Thank you for sharing your ideas!

You can shorten the length of the winch leg by doing the same "double back to stationary" loop you did on each of the platform legs. You just double that lift capacity back, but half that distance.

Hello Just found your channel. Very interesting build. I built my lift about two years ago and is much simpler design. I only have a two car garage and I built an H frame for the top of my roof top tent and two 2x4 bottom creating a box that is connected together with long screws and nuts. The middle 2x4 of the top H frame has a hook that is directly connected to the Harbor Freight electric hoist. I have a much smaller power hoist. for safety I use straps to keep the weight of the RTT on the straps. The straps are connected to ey bolts that are installed in the ceiling joists. Works flawlessly all these years. I like the idea of the chains holding it in place.

Received my 150lb RTT 5 min ago and already looking at this, lol!

I built one for a SUP in a workshop and the effort was pretty high for a 40lb board (lifting by hand) so will take notes on how you handle a 200lb tent. Thanks!

I’m planning on doing something similar this spring in my garage I’m planning on putting a plywood floor on the rafters in the attic and cutting a 2ft x 4ft opening with a hoist to store items in the garage attic

Great setup - thanks! Any paper plan to follow on where to mount the pullys and rope - and a materials list?

Exceptional! This is exactly what I was looking for!

Great setup! What did you use to mount the hoist into the unistrut horizontally? I'm having a hard time finding the hardware I need to build this setup. Also, how's been holding up so far? TIA

For your final assembly was 200 feet of cord enough? I like the double cord lifting idea. Do you have a link to the "L" brackets you used to connect the Unistrut together and the fasteners?

Thanks for this video! If I build a platform will I have to worry about weight distribution with this type of system?

Freaking awesome! I have a few questions: I’m a female DIY’er who wants to do this in my garage. Can this be attached to the ceiling joists directly in my garage as I don’t have the metal frame you have? THANK YOU IN ADVANCE! 😊

Do you think the weakest point is the rope clamp? Are they still holding up?

Great idea and video. Are you concerned about wear and tear on the cord (vs. using cable)? My application would be for a 12 ft ceiling in the garage. Do I need to build a frame, attached to the ceiling or attach directly to joist s? What is your estimated cost for this build?

great project....one question. i see your pulleys and paracord are directly vertical @ 90 degree angles...is it a problem if the pulleys are not @ 90 degrees, say 120 degrees on all 4 pulleys?

I have a question about the paracord you chose. My understanding is that for this type of setup it is better to use rope/cable that does not stretch. I think paracord stretches so over time you may have one corner start to dip lower. Is my understanding incorrect?

This looks awesome! Curious as to why you didn't mount the hoist to the opposite wall above your door. Was it due to access to power or something else?

Did your rope stretch at all? I'm doing a 4x8 ft. table for an HO car track and I used some climbing rope and it stretched like crazy, ....Moving to wire cable.
