Drum nerds, here’s another “Kit of the Week!” My ‘Unplugged’ kit. 🎧 Here’s something a bit different… I set up this kit to replicate my ‘Low volume’ kit I use for ‘acoustic’ Church recordings. In those sessions, I use a Cajon for my kick, a Hat, 1 cymbal, a side/aux snare that typically has a BFSD Quesadilla on it, Shakers, and a Djembe or Conga.
This kit began with the “Percussion Tribe” kit from Roland, but I altered a few pieces and then dialed in each piece for my needs.
The kick is a Cajon. The snare use 2 Cajon samples, much like what you’d play at the top of the Cajon, including slaps. The aux snare on the left is a shallow-shell snare that I muted, since I use a BFSD Quesadilla on the snare I use at Church for this set-up. Check out the 2 ‘rack toms’ in this kit --- the hi-hat pedal changes the pitch as you press/raise the pedal.

Cool, right? …have I told you how much I love playing with electronics? 😀

[Gear for this clip] Roland TD-50X, Vater sticks, Audio Technica headphones, Zoom L-12 mixer into a Zoom Q2n4K.
