Hey Dom. I hope you still remember me. You gave me an Iphone 6 plus gold before wayback 2015. I was a teenager then, freshman in college. I was very grateful that time and very happy cause it's my first time owning an iphone and it was very useful during my college days. I have a work now and I currently using an iphone 14 pro. Thank you, Dom. I will never forget about you. ❤️

Why is in so many tests so much talk about shadow brightening and highlights? This takes away any dynamism from the image and it just looks flat. A camera is not automatically better if shadows are brightened. Brightening is no problem from a software perspective, the problem is finding the right mix so that the photo does not look artificial and lifeless. Once you have created HDR photos with Photoshop, you know that the dosage makes a good photo.

The same people who say they think the iPhone is better also unknowingly vote for a Pixel phone on the MKBHD camera contest

Photo wise, it's almost the same with iPhone a little better a few and Pixel Pro a little better in a few, but I have seen many reviews and some things come down user, and also phones themselves vary from phone to phone depending on build location or parts. One thing I found watching tons of reviews the iPhone wins in video hands down, even when zooming, I mean motion blur is better, stabilization is better, pro features, shooting in ProRes is great. And indoor shots overall are a little better. Other than that all these phones are really similar, down to preference since we each have different likes and also different vision, we see things differently. I would only say if you want the best video iPhone wins against Pixel or S24, and thats after looking at lots of reviews.

after using the pixel 9 pro for almost a month at this point, I notice that the camera has very aggressive white balancing, which I personally really like--you will be able to see a lot of details (in dark or bright spots) in your photos compared to some of the other flagship cameras. But perhaps it's not for everyone, since the aggressive white balancing alters the color a lil' bit and makes the photo's color not as accurate to life as maybe the iphone or samsung cameras.

I'm gonna stick with my Pixel 4a until next year. I plan to get the 10 and I can't wait!!

Apple used to be way behind Google with photos, and from a subjective perspective, I now prefer the iPhone's processing. A more contrasty iPhone looks more interesting than a flat highlighted Pixel. But that is a personal preference. I may have been missing something for video, but I thought the iPhone was more stable with less flickering of the Pixel and a comfortable win.

I suppose brand loyalty will influence the choice. I have both last-gen iPhones and Pixels, and the Pixel is a nightmare for colour science when taking photos of cars. I use both and end up using the iPhone picture, as the Pixel is not as accurate. However, its over-saturation may not matter for social media posts.

The iPhone 16 is very good, even in videos. But personally I'll stick with the pixel 9 pro, it's simply incredible, especially that front camera. Whenever I'm with friends and we take a selfie photo, they are impressed by the quality of the pixel front camera.

Everyone thinks the iPhone is better because of the aesthetic feel and how clean the iPhone is but overall the pixel is way better because you do on it like a standard PC. You can use the pixel almost like a pc. With iPhone you can't really do much about it. Yes both are expensive but you get more out of a pixel.

Photos on the iPhone, especially with the front-facing camera, can look dull and almost washed out. The photos on the Pixel just look warmer, with better highlights.

Video is closer than I thought it would be, but the iPhone still reigns supreme there, especially if you want 4k 120fps

“iPhone crushing the shadows”. NOPE! Pixel is processing all the photos and making them looking like HDR.

I'm impressed with what Google has achieved with their products this year. Apple has always had the lead since the launch of the first original iPhone - they have the money, the expertise, the best engineers and the most loyal fanbase. It took Google 9 generations to deliver, and it will only get better with every year. The bottleneck of the Pixel devices, the Google Tensor will be slowly mitigated when Google move to TSMC to have them manufactured.

Every year people do these camera comparisons. Really it doesn't matter much since modern smartphones look great and every year they improve little by little.
People are going to get the phone that they've been using for years and years as that's the 'eco-system' they've been in and it's the OS that they're use to.
Every smartphone iteration each year has its pros & cons.
Another thing is that with YouTube's compression you can't really accurately tell how the media really is; especially not with video.
