Makes me so happy how loyal the dwarves were to Bilbo

So, the Dwarves were there to warn Elrond and get word to Bilbo that he was in danger (because if they went straight to the Shire, the Ringwraiths would probably be able to follow them).

The Wood Elves were there to warn Elrond that Gollum/Smeagol had escaped and would likely be after Bilbo.

Boromir was there because his brother had been receiving prophetic dreams about the meeting, but Denethor blocked his brother from attending, so Boromir went in his place.

Aragorn was there because he'd been watching over the Shire.

Gandalf was there because he had learned that Bilbo's magic ring was the One Ring, and Elrond had been present at the last attempt to destroy it.

Elrond, of course, *lived* there.

I think the book also mentions the dwarves are there to seek advice on Balin’s missing party and the mines of Moria.

It wasn’t the witch king, it was likely the mouth of Sauron that requested the dwarves join Sauron, that’s why they were at the council of Elrond.

The dwarves also told the ring wraith to piss off because they were not going to betray the hobbit who helped them reclaim Erebor. The Ringwraith’s did NOT take this well and pretty much promised to bring war down on the dwarves and men of lake town(now Dale once more).

I think the coolest part about this is how in the books it's a way of showing Illuvatars will, the same way gandalf often speaks like he knows more than the rest, like knowing that Frodo leaving is the only way this will get done (kinda how doctor strange knew that was the endgame now 😂)

All this to say that even in the movies, the reason it still works is because the story is still revolving around Eru's will, Eru wants the heroes to fight, Eru wants Frodo to make this trip, they might fail but even that is within his great plan, the movies dont show it quite as much which im fine with but the moments the movies do have are amazing

actually its not known for sure who sauron sent as messenger. some think it was a nazgul others think it was the mouth of sauron. although a nazgul is hinted by a description of the messengers voicd

Gave them a ultimatum eventually. They were asked about bilbo. Witch king kept asking even offering rings of power to be returned and feared the leader of lake town would break and snitch
