This is what happened: Can’t remember which book, it’s been a while since I read this part but Jay’Feather tried to save Flame’Tail in the lake when he was drowning but Rock told him not to. Pretty much all of Flame’Tail’s kin blamed Jay’Feather and when Jay’Feather had to do something in Star clan he started to drown in mud or w/e and asked for Flame’Tail’s paw to help him but Flame’Tail turned him away thinking he died because Jay’Feather forced him deeper.
