I had a strict grocery budget for the month and this is exactly how I make my budget work for me. I use a method called reverse meal planning and it’s saved me thousands. This is the easiest way to save money on groceries and only takes a small amount of time each week. I would love to see your additional tips in the comments too, so we can all share tips that work for us!

Thank you to those of you who requested that I create a video showing exactly what I spend in a month! If you have any specific requests for future videos, please be sure to mention them in the comments.

I'm trying to start making more freezer meals and crockpot meals since I currently teach 22 piano students. It's a blessing, but takes up alot of time. So, the crockpot and freezer meals are lifesavers!

Great video! Great job breaking that down step by step. It's the best explanation I've ever seen.

I reverse meal plan too, but to also do Cook Once, Eat Twice Principle. It saves me time in planning, shopping, prepping, cooking and cleaning when I make at least 2 meals worth of each recipe, so I only have to cook and clean up once, but I eat from it twice. That means planning 3 breakfasts recipes, 3 lunch recipes, and 3 dinner recipes. Then we can have leftovers, a packaged meal, and/or eat out on day 7. It also develops a culture of eating leftovers.

We’ve been reverse meal planning since I was a kid! My parents did this. I grew up doing this. I grew all my kids up doing this and now my oldest is 25 doesn’t her house too it’s a great way to make sure nothing expires and you can save money if you move some ingredients from one week

I almost always reverse plan. Also, I generally take one week out of the month and pull from my freezer only. And use the budgeted money to restock my pantry.

Amanda Beale from the Beales channel does this she's not as active as she used to be her kids have grown up ans moved out but she did this on her channel for a long time. She's also in the area that got effected by Hurricane Helene in the NW North Carolina area i believe She's close to Lake Lure and Chimney rock.

We freeze peppers, onions, carrots, mushrooms, and celery. Keep those in ziploc baggies to throw in baked things or soups. Keep air out of the bag as much as possible. We freeze blueberries and blackberries. We keep vacuumed sealed bags of meat by kind together in baskets. This has really helped us. Pasta, sauces, canned veggies and we have what we need. Oh yeah, staples. We cook whatever sounds good for that evening in usually the crockpot or electric skillet. Gotta do what works for you.

I reverse meal plan and have done so for years by checking ads and when I use an item then write that item on grocery list. I usually only shop at Food Luon as that closest to me, only other store is walmart 8 miles away. It works well for us.

Hi Laura. I am a single senior. I find it hard to meal plan for myself. I try to make meals that will last 2 to 3 days. Budget wise, it is better for me to cook for more than one meal. I do have an idea of what I have in the house so I don't spend as much.

I just made a very similar sauce with raw sunflower seeds...this is what we use often instead of cheese for pasta, grilled cheese, and pizza. Mine had the same texture-I think next time I will make sure to soak them well overnight-I tried boiling them but was in a hurry. Still tastes great, though!! I shop the same-scour the flyers every week, look for coupons-though I find I usually overspend on one of the weeks so won't shop again until a few weeks later-but my pantry gets stocked to the brim as those high spend weeks have amazing sales (hence the overspending 😄). My grocery stores often run bulk buy sales, so this is how I take advantage of them without breaking the overall budget.

If you boil the cashews first and let cook about 5 minutes or just sit in the water until it starts to cool, you can use that in the blender and it will make the sauce more smooth.

Can you do it without going to Aldi’s? No Aldi’s in the west. Only Walmart.

Why do the hands in the first part of the video showing the worksheets seem to be darker and different from your own hands? Same for the hands holding the grocery store ads?
