In this tutorial, we show how to supply metadata (title, description, keywords, categories, releases) into stock photo images using Upload CSV Metadata function on stock photography websites, such as Shutterstock and many others. Doing so will eliminate a lot of manual work of copying and pasting metadata and will significantly speed up your workflow.

There are generally 3 approaches to supply title, description and keywords to stock photo websites, such as Shutterstock, Adobe Stock, Getty Images, Pond5, Alamy among many others:

(1) approach #1 is to copy and paste manually metadata for each photo/video and for each stock photo agency. This approach is highly inefficient and should be avoided.

(3) Finally, approach #3 is to upload a comma separated values (CSV) spreadsheet file containing metadata for uploaded files. This is the topic of this video tutorial.

Upload CSV metadata file function is a highly efficient approach of titling and keywording your content and we personally use it when a stock photography platform does not accept embedded metadata in stock media files (e.g. stock videos uploaded to Shutterstock).

Hopefully this tutorial will help you automate your workflow and substantially reduce unnecessary manual copying and pasting in the future. You still need to maintain a spreadsheet with records of metadata for your stock content though. In our future videos, we will share our entire keywording workflow from start to finish.

We have been doing stock photography as a full-time business since 2015 and will be sharing our experience and tips in our future videos. Hi,

thank you for your helpful video.
I have a problem creating a CSV file for Getty.
I tried Getty's template and Deep Meta's template.
Both don't work.
I always get the message, "File name cannot be blank".
However, I did everything right.
Everything worked wonderfully with Shutterstock and Adobe.
Could you please send me a Getty CSV file of yourself?
I could then use your file as a template.
That would be really nice of you.

Best regards Mario

Also, do you think it would be possible to use a master csv file for Shutterstock, Adobe and Getty Images?
