Hey patrick. I have a calculus III exam today and I just wanted to thank you for your videos. They are so helpful and really saved me from this test. Keep doing what you're doing.

That sigh of relief when you are learning a new topic and you find that Patrick did a video on it :)

This is the only channel where there is no BS. Just plain examples and exactly what we need.

If you go to more > statistics and look at the daily views, you can get a pretty good guess when the exams are

I can´t believe this. I searched the internet for explanation for directional derivative.
And there was like no site which could explain this to me.

And even though English is not my native language you explained it well enough for me to understand. And i checked with some solutions of some problem is already knew ( i just didn´t knew the way). And this way of calculating works perfectly.

Thank you so much patrick for your effort of making the internet a little smarter :)..

or at least me.

I've been using your videos since AB calc in high school, and I'm now in college taking multivariable calc and still using them! ^.^ much appreciated!

The last 30 seconds where you explained that the Dir. deriv. is the slope of a 3D function in a certain direction (since 3D fn's can have different slopes at a single point depending on which direction you go) made everything click for me!
thank you!

Your videos are right up there with Khan in my book. Thank you for breaking down complicated subjects in easy to understand terms, you're a natural teacher.

You can also find the gradient vector evaluated at that point and multiply it (dot product) by the unit vector.

Okay.  In this video, Patrick referenced the fact that he had done more than one example of finding a directional derivative, and yet, I can find nothing else done by him on this topic either here, or on his web-site, PatrickJMT.com.  Could someone kindly tell me where I'm missing this other video example?

Thank-you.
