Idk, making kids fear black color is a toxic thing that art teachers do. Using colorful dark colors instead of black is definitely fun and interesting, but pure black and white mediums also have their place and deserve some love.
Esp the part about "mix your own black", I was painting with watercolors yesterday and none of the colors I mixed were dark enough. Good thing that I have a "purple black" color in my palette, it's so fun and added a lot to my work.

art teachers are really afraid that we'll overdo the black and make everything muddy 😭 but it was always funny how they would tell me to improve something that was almost mpossible without using some black, I would do so sneakily and they'd be like "yes much better"
