FAQ:
Why ‘the religious hippie?’
It was a nickname my friends gave me when I was in highschool because I dressed like a hippie and was a ‘wild child’, when I came back into my faith they thought ‘the religious hippie’ was now a more appropriate nickname and it stuck!

Who is your favorite saint? Saint Francis of Assisi

**UPDATE**
There were two mistakes brought to my attention, we do NOT have ordinary time in the old calendar, and the Sanctus is NOT a part of the Canon of the Mass. Thanks to those who pointed it out! As a human, I am not perfect, and I really appreciate you guys holding me accountable! Thank you!

So wonderful to find the TLM explained by a person young people can relate to. God bless you in what you're doing.

Another nice thing about the TLM churches that I've attended: They have the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession) before EVERY Mass- Not just twice a week like the "newer Mass" churches I've been to.

Fantastic overview of the TLM. I’ve only been a couple times, but the beauty and sacredness were overwhelming

Going to my first TLM this Sunday so this video came just in time.

Amber this is brilliant! I am just learning about Catholicism seriously and was originally worried about how I would handle a Latin mass I stumbled into, but then I remembered that I can be good with other languages and that I would just do my best to let the spirit of the mass wash over me. Thanks for being you!

I go to traditional mass twice a month in Jakarta, Indonesia, because I am a member of the schola cantorum that serves the mass

For about a month now, I'd scheduled to go to my first TLM Mass (at 7AM, no less) this Sunday with some acquaintances. So this video came just in time -- and really helped to show the similarities and differences with Novus Ordo. Thanks Amber!

Wonderful explanation. Well done! For a more detailed treatment, I recommend the classic book "The Latin Mass Explained" by Fr. George Moorman. His explanation of the theology of sacrifice is particularly good.

Very neat to see Cantius as an example. My first time ever stepping into a cathedral was last June when I went to Cantius' Latin novus ordo. It was super jarring as a Protestant, but I've kept going (and joined RCIA). The midnight Christmas mass was so transcendent that it may have singularly changed my heart on the Catholic church

All that to say, the Latin Mass and the ad orientum Latin Novus Ordo are both so beautiful that they speak to the heart in a way reason can't. Understanding the specifics makes you appreciate it more, but you get the gist of what's going on even with absolutely no background knowledge as I had.

Just started RCIA a couple weeks ago so your channel has been very useful. I need to get one of those red books!

Great video, I usually use a Missal til the Offertory then usually just pray and meditate on Calvary and being present with Christ, Mary, John, and Magdeline at the foot of the cross so real and beautiful. Just love the Mass

This is a very nice video; I especially enjoyed the teamwork between you and your fiance. While I'm not a Catholic (or Christian), I am a language and religion nerd. One small correction: at 17:07 Max was explaining about the use of the word "O." I don't think it's clear that this word is taken from Greek; both Greek and Latin may have had this same vocative particle, ὤ or O. But if it is derived from Greek, it's not taken from the definite article, "the." It's a separate word used to speak directly to someone. (By the way, I'm also not sure the pronunciation of "Kyrie eleison" has been Latinized so much—maybe just the ei diphthong—although the pronunciation of Greek did change in different times and places.)
