Spaniard here! Welcome to Spain! I hope you enjoy the great weather and good food ;)
Some tips:
- learn spanish. Don't worry about verbal times or word genre. Focus on vocabulary and verds. Most people will try to understand you if you put a little on your part.
- get yourself a NIE (Número de Identidad de Extranjero), is a national ID number that you'll need for lot of things
- be careful about taxes, here you're considered a taxable person if you live more than 183 per year (search/ask for info at "agencia tributaria")
- driving in valencia is somekind "dangerous", so be prepared for some "aciton" if you take your car/motrocycle
- get a spanish mobile number with some cheap but trusty carrier. Maybe simyo, or pepephone

Congrats on your move! I think you'll find it easy to adapt to Spanish, and there may even be classes for Valencian available from the Generalitat too! Ever since my move to Barcelona, I have never looked back from this lovely Mediterranean lifestyle :)

As far as the echo problem, a nice thick rug and some plants should help.

Soo happy for you! I grew up in Wellington as well! Valencia is absolutely stunning, Barcelona at large is stunning in general. Good luck with it all and hopefully when you're settled in more it would be cool to see like an apartment tour or a day in the life kind of video too.
