Awesome 👏🏻 great job done on drums. I’m not a maximalist but every day I’m convinced that samples are not necessary on every session.

Honestly, a good sounding mix is 80% good production and 20% good mixing. It's an amazingly tuned kit, a killer drummer, good mics and miking techniques.

Love the room mics. Great recording! 👍

I am all about this mix and mixing approach. Well done Sean!

for starters, it's definitely making sure that the snare mics, overheads, and room mics are working together in tandem.

A little too muddy for my taste but still very appropriate for its style and genre.

Does that mean a new one with Sean?
I got so much out of his FOB one and it was the most pleasant episode for me, very lovely.

If you have a good room sound like this it’s kind of hard not to make it the entire drum sound lol

Odd times we're living in: a drum mix without samples has to be defended...

Ya i would never need samples if all my drums were this well recorded/played and had these rooms :)

Took me years to understand the player on drums especially is half the battle. Steady hitter. Not bashing cymbals to much. Timing. And consistently moving around the kit as one. Mics and processing is a small part. If it sounds good coming in it will sound great. If sounds bad coming in it can be a little of what we called polish a turd. That's when samples are used Excellent video!! Thanks

I love Scheps Omni channel, but for some reason it takes forever to load a session in Pro Tools with it on, or even load up a new instance. Great drum mix and performance.

I’m way more impressed with the drummer than the mixer here. The mixer at least gets that drummer was a gem and didn’t destroy that.

he has worked with fall out boy, awesome, love these raw drums, i would like to know about the mic bleed gating here

I like the drums mostly without the room mics, you're already getting some room bleed in the close mics anyway. Those room mics are really dense. I would have just mixed in a very small hint of the room mics, that would have made the mix tighter and the drums punchier.

So what was the trick? Use mono warehouse room mics? This video showed a ton of A vs B but not really any meaningful detail on the 'processing' settings.

I wonder if they do any Nirvana covers

Anyone know the desk he's rockin'? I have never seen anything similar

sounds like it was recorded in a basement and that's not a good thing.
