Alex Murdaugh’s Lawyer Grills Clerk of Court on Jury Manipulation Claims, Writing Book for Money

Alex Murdaugh’s defense attorney, Dick Harpootlian, cross-examined the Clerk of Courts on Monday after she outright denied tampering with the jury in the convicted killer’s murder trial. Harpootlian grilled Rebecca “Ms. Becky” Hill with a strong line of questions regarding her behavior with jurors and the book she wrote about the trial, including claims she told them not to be fooled by Murdaugh’s testimony, threatened to withhold smoke breaks until a verdict was reached, and included lies in her book to make more money.

I’m a taxpayer in South Carolina and her testimony infuriates me! The fact that she profited off this trial makes me even more angry.

Court clerks should NOT be allowed to write books for profit about cases they've been a part of. Whether the Defendant was innocent OR guilty. SO extremely unprofessional.

When I was a juror the only time we talked to Clerk was in the morning to see if we were ready, he’d check on us. There was absolutely no communication between the jurors and him in regards to the trial other than perhaps instruction questions.
