One of the best prospects on the world! Aggressive, explosive, but very smart and technician!
Benavides in really danger

So everyone knows what to do with a southpaw but knowing and doing are two different things when a guy dominates lead foot position so well

Its unfortunate he couldn't get a fight against Shishkin or Plant first. Jumping right in against Benavidez is a big step up.

Morrell actually won the youth world championships as 178 pounder at the age of 17. Same year he competed in the men's Cuban Nationals at 178 and many believed he beat the great Julio Cezar La Cruz (5 world championships and two olympic golds at 81kg and 91kg) who in my opinion is the most talented and skillful fighters of all time.
Anyway, back to my point. Morrell is big even at 175 where he was fighting at 17 years of age. He has also faced better fighters in Cuba than the pros he's fought over here as a pro. Benavidez is very good but he won't be able to bully Morrell. He'll have to think more and box more.

I hope Morrell wins, he needs to keep his distance and use his lead hand as a defensive mechanism and to set up his left. He can't get too emotional and be drawn into a firefight with Benavidez.

I would have liked him to have the chance to stay at 168lb longer than he did and see him against all the competition he could have faced there from Plant to Mbilli or Andrade .. he would have had no competition.
One of the Cuban Greats i have heard a lot of good thing about was Kid Gavilan ( who held a win over Eduardo Lausse, Rafael Merentino who were among The hardest puncher at 160lb and it is interesting to point that both could have fought at Light Heavy !! )

Mantequilla Napoles who is also Cuban and faced Monzon, a fight promoted by Alain Delon in France who did everything he could to be the best promoter he could be 😊

I don't like this guy but he will definitely give Benavidez his first loss for sure

He doesn't go to the body. There was plenty of opportunities where he could have gone to the liver. He's also a bit wild with his punches

Sloppy. Benevidez will finish him, too much volume and experience. The way Morrell throws his left is weak, and inaccurate, very amateur. Speed is not there at all either. But he will learn from the loss
