I am the monority that will be using it as a (third/work) desktop replacer. You cannot beat that price. As long as it runs citrix and I can play some factorio and some older games it seems like a great deal.

The reason people are comparing this to the consoles is because it’s designed to bridge pc gaming and console gaming. This device, at this price point, and the fact that it’s backed by valve, is attracting to a lot of console gamers.

I feel your pain my brother when you say "No love for ASIA" :'(
Before i came to Thailand, i always thought that most Asian countries had a huge advantage for being so close to China and Taiwan. It's actually true in some cases but when it comes to exclusivity and new products, ASIA is often left behind and served in last resort, which is really really boring.
The Steam Deck is kinda interesting for me since it's GNU/Linux compatible device and GNU/Linux emulation gaming is really really good.
BUT you have a lot of valid points, except that we will probably have now a huge push for games which will be compatible with both GNU/Linux and Windows.
Also, i think if there is more and more devices like it in the future, Nintendo will be definitely in trouble because games exclusivity is not necessarily a good thing for customers especially when you can not play your old games on a new console.

But that's the point of the PC. The games don't have to be tailor made, you yourself will just have to turn down the settings to low. You are tailor making it play well on your VSD. On Switch, you don't have those options to change graphical settings

I agree as well. It's not comparable to the Switch at all. Portable Handheld PC are in a category of their own, and its market is about to get into the mainstream through the Deck. We will see if there's a viable market for it on the long term. But I can't deny that it's very convenient for poor people like me who wants to get into high spec gaming in a lower price.

I think the 16GB of unified memory give the deck a chance to stick out at least low settings at 1280x800 decently far into the future, and you have to consider that as long as developers are targeting good performance at the most popular resolutions, scaling that back to 1/4 of 1440p should net acceptable results on the steam deck. The real issue here is tempering expectations. It will absolutely run AAA titles, but perhaps not at the quality you might expect. The switch already has this consideration. The Witcher 3 runs at sub 720p through dynamic resolution while in handheld mode, so if that's an acceptable tradeoff someone is willing to make, the steam deck should be adequate for them probably for the next 3 or so years I less a large shift in hardware requirements happens in that time.
