Backer rod is a solid tubular foam. Sold in coils of different diameters. That is used to fill in voids in gaps in between surfaces (wood, brick, concrete, etc.). It fills the voids so you don't have to fill the entire void with caulk, foam or hot tar (roadway traffic loops). It can be purchased at hardware stores and supply houses.

Their recommendation for the tape and paper at the top of the window is spot on. If you wrap the paper around the bottom of the header, then set the window in, you WILL have water in your house that appears to be a leaky window.

Thanks for the info. Well done video 👍 Unfortunately most contractors today cannot follow the guidelines of basics. "Why is my window leaking into my interior unit, these are new windows? And this is why. because your contractor or developer did not follow proper procedures 😭

This video completely glosses over the installation of "backer rod". What is that?

The bottom corners are VERY WEAK in this video. Plastic corner molds are far superior. How can should an otherwise perfect company have such a weak technique?
