Never-occupied '90s home for sale in St. George goes viral for being 'time capsule'

A home that recently went on the market is mystifying millions on TikTok, because of what’s inside the house — or rather, what was never in it. The house was built in 1998, but no one ever moved in.

I guarantee a ham sandwich made in that kitchen can taste the same as a ham sandwich made in a remodeled $50, 000 kitchen.

Dont change the appliances! The new ones last 3 yr, the 90s ones will last a good 10!

She said at the end, "Upgrades to appliances"? All those old things are still perfectly fine, and probably better quality than today.

“Upgrades to appliances”?!? Why? That is what is wrong with America, constantly “upgrading” things that are still perfectly good, while the “upgrades” are of increasingly poor quality.

Back when appliances all used to work.

Those appliances are better than the ones they have now.

The owner passed away and the house went right back on the market.
A good reminder to work hard and earn money but don't work too hard to the point where you can buy nice things but don't even have time to enjoy them. Because what's the point then?

Girl please !! Those appliances still have 10 years on them. Kenmore and GE were top tier back then.

That's like buying a 90's model car brand new, you don't upgrade it, you drive it. Why? Reliability of course. That house and the appliances are indestructible.

I’m curious to know the price in 98 and the price it sold for today.

Whoever purchased the home better not sell the refrigerator! The new refrigerators are not as quality as what they have. What a wonderful view of the past even though the video is t great.

I'll bet that shower head blasts some water, unlike today's shower heads.

Reporter thinks they need to upgrade appliances. Appliances are: Programmable microwave with motorized turntable. Full-size multi-feature cooktop oven. Two-door full-size fridge with control/display panel, ice maker/crusher/dispenser and water dispenser. GE multi-feature dishwasher. Full size washer and dryer units. Large double-basin kitchen sink with a lever faucet. All of that was common in 90s-built homes. Also has a jacuzzi tub and a separate walk-in shower with sliding door, which weren't necessarily standard-issue but weren't at all uncommon. People have started acting like the 1990s may as well have been the 1950s.

Can you imagine having so much money you just buy a whole extra house you "never get around" to moving into? My generation will never be able to buy a home 😭😭😭

This is what most low-mid level rentals look like. The people that make these segments may have their homes renovated every 3-5 years, but most of us can’t afford that. The only reason my house gets updated is because I am able to do the work myself.

Condolences to the previous owner's family.

The house looks nice and maintained.

Time capsule? I’m only 23 and this looks like a regular cozy home

Imagine having that kind of money to have a house sitting around that you haven't gotten around to using. 😅

I'd take their refrigerator any day over the ones in the stores now. I bought a new fridge when I got married in 1997 and it's still running just fine in my mom's basement. The one I have in my kitchen now is dying after 12 years.
