Simple two wire induction/VRS type crank (CRK) position sensor detail. Discrepancy between measured and spec valves remains a mystery at this point. Unfortunate start to the series…What can you do?
Join us (by that I mean me) in the next instalment when we (me again) consider the rather mundane Cam position sensor (CMP). Not nearly as wearisome as it sounds 🤣

Till date, I could not find any video that has explain very well when it come to crank and cam sensor detection on scope, many years now am trying to learn this but I can’t get my head to understand how to interpret this

First time I have seen your channel, I will scan through it now to see if you will fit in my criteria. May I ask why you don't properly name your video with all the data from the specific vehicle and engine? Without knowing the year or seeing any scan data, it might be possible that the ECM puts in a substituted value in place of the CKP once the engine fires up based on the cam space (Bernie Thompson term). Does it start up quick or a couple/few seconds? Did you disconnect the CKP once the engine was running? Thank you for the Service Info also.

I haven't seen a crank signal look like that before, double missing teeth. It looked good apart from the amplitude was way smaller, do you think it could be a typo? Did you get chance to compare it with another car. Cheers Matt

Why does the manual say to measure at operating temperature?

You could easily have too much air gap where the sensor mounts. That would explain the smaller amplitudes. Could be a shim on the sensor.

Nice presentation for sure! It does seem to be quite low and you would think it would at least be 500 millivolts on each side of the wave, to equal 1 volt total. If I'm reading it correctly, it looks like you may have about 50 millivolts on each side of the waveform. Very interesting for sure. Is it possible that it could be using one of those magnetive resistance type sensors? Thank you for another great Vid! Hope you find the answer, for learning purposes anyway.

what an awful place for a CKP sensor!

and I don't think I've ever seen a reluctor wheel pattern like this one...

as to the low signal amplitude...that's a huge difference 50mV from 5v spec...something is pulling down, we'd think...perhaps (and this is a long shot) backprobing is shorting those pins together inside connector...pins appear next to each other, right?

I'm reaching, I know...but hard to find other explanations
