Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Curt gooseneck ball and safety chain loop kit for our 2022 Ford F-450. This is gonna come with a 2 5/16" gooseneck ball. It's made of steel and it's chrome-plated. If you wanted to keep this nice and shiny, grab some grease and grease this up. But one thing I don't necessarily love about this is you probably wanna get some gloves 'cause when you lift this up, that's how we're gonna take it out. But if you have grease on it it might get your hands a little gross.

If you don't like that, we do have another option. A B & W which has a 30,000 pound capacity. This one has a 38,000 pound capacity. So this one is gonna be a little bit bigger heavier-duty than the B & W kit, but that all is limited to the components on your truck. If your truck can only do 30,000, that's all we're gonna be able to do with the Curt.

So keep that in mind. We also are gonna get some safety chain loops and these are gonna be made of a cast steel. So they're gonna be extra strong, powder-coated finish, So they're not gonna rust away. And when it comes to taking these out, it's pretty simple. Slide these out, pull this out, rotate it and pull it right out.

It's very, very quick and easy. So you can get your bed back to its original state in a matter of seconds. And I just like that just 'cause I don't wanna just put something huge and bulky in my bed that takes a while to put in there. This isn't bulky, and it doesn't take a whole lot of time to put it in or take it out. Our loops are gonna have a measurement from the inside to inside about 2" wide and about 1 1/2" tall.

They have a relatively smaller hook. As you can see, it does go around, but it does doesn't really wanna snap into place. So keep that in mind. Definitely use something a little bit bigger. This is a 5/16" hook. So you might wanna go with something a little bit bigger so it snaps into place. All the gooseneck ball kits come with a nice carrying case pretty heavy-duty. So it's not gonna be real light and flimsy. We'll just take these out. What I've found to be best is to put this back in like this, and then, It's got light, right* Like that. Everything's got a nice little place which is cool. It takes about a minute to put it back away And we're even gonna have a place for our ball here. And then one other thing that does come with the kit is a little plug. So once that's all done, you wanna make sure that these are all the way through like that. So there's that. We do have this little plug which I like the rubber plug a little bit better just because this is the OEM one. It's very, very plasticky*. So it's kind of hard to get it out. With this you can kinda bend it with your finger and pull it out. With this one, once it's in there, it's kind of difficult to pull it out. I actually had to use a razor blade to do it. But you do have this. It's just gonna make sure that that ball's gonna slide in and out fairly easy but it just took me a couple minutes to get the bed back to where I want it. You can throw this underneath your seat, in your toolbox. It's not that big, but just so you know, the diameter or the length is gonna be about 15 1/2", and it's gonna be about 10" high, and about 5" thick. So not that big for what it actually enables your truck to do.
