Brad Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer. And today we're taking a look at the Curt Euro Ball Mount. This is gonna be four inch and a quarter inch hitches. Now this is my own personal vehicle and while I don't really tow trailers with it much, being able to hook up to this utility trailer to just move my riding mower around or even take it to the track to load up some supplies is really nice to have that option. And this ball mount does a really good job of keeping our tongue nice and level and also giving it a clean look in the process. Now if you've never seen a Euro Mount before or never heard of it, it is a little bit different looking than your typical ball mount.

You're probably used to seeing something like this. And the difference is kind of minimal here but it really is a nice thing to have if you already have your height set up. And the reason being is this ball comes already on there, it's already attached, so you don't have to pick up a separate ball and worry about torquing this down to the proper setting. It's already ready to go, so you can put it in your hitch, put your pin and clip in, and you're ready to go. Now the drawbacks to this is you can't change the ball to a different size.

So if you plan on going from one trailer to the other, you might need to pick up a separate mount. But I know that this is really the only trailer that I use and I know the height that I need so getting this fixed one makes it nice and easy. And also it just has a cleaner look when it's installed on the vehicle. And you're probably wondering what can you actually tow with this And the weight ratings are actually pretty decent on here. It has a gross trailer weight rating of 3,500 pounds which is gonna be the weight of the trailer plus the accessories loaded up.

So kind of that pull force. And a tongue weight rating of 350 pounds, which is what the coupler is gonna push down on the ball mount. Now this is a pretty decent rating here but you also want to adhere to what your hitch is rated for as well as the vehicle. And take the lowest of those numbers and that way you're not overloading any of your components. With a car with low ground clearance like this, it's really nice to have something that's pretty clean here.

It extends out seven and a quarter from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball. So that's a perfect amount of clearance here, even with this fascia kind of protruding. To be able to hook up with the coupler and not make contact with the fascia. Now also, it does have a rise from the center of the hitch pin hole to the bottom of the ball of four and five eights inch. So that's a measurement you want to use when determining which height you need or even extension to match up to your trailer. And if that's not something size wise that works for you, we have ones that extend a little bit further or you can get different rises. That is the downside of these, is you can't put it in any drop position, obviously. But again, once you get it set up to the trailer that you plan on towing, these are a great option. Now it does not come with a pin and clip, so you're gonna need to pick one of these up unless you have one lying around. And this is gonna be a half inch pin and clip that you'll need. We have plenty of options whether you're just kind of getting a standard one here or if you wanna move up to a locking one. That way you can leave this on the vehicle and not have to worry about someone taking it and walking away with it. Now this is a nice steel construction. It's got black powder coat finish on it and a chrome plated ball. As I mentioned before, it's already mounted on there. So that's really nice. And it really does just kind of give a cleaner look than your typical ball mount. So also storing this in the vehicle is a little bit easier. As you can see, it's a lot less just space overall that it takes up and it kind of does give a cleaner look. So if you have a smaller vehicle like we have here, this is just a little bit more sporty looking than your typical ball mount. And that was a look at the Curt Euro Ball Mount four inch and a quarter inch hitches..

Can I drill the driver side of the hitch pin hole to add a heavy duty nut, for the purpose of using a bolt for anti wobble?
