I'm lucky enough to be one of the 15% users of ACER that only needed to do the update. Thank you so much for this, I really thought my laptop was done for, it's an old model of ACER and it's been through a lot with me. Tough spot atm so I definitely cannot buy a new one. You're really helping us, majority of people who come to repair stores gets ripped off so these videos are lifesavers. Thanks again!

THANK YOU!!! I have been trying to figure this out for MONTHS. I even replaced the internal battery on my E5 and still the battery (and screen) went on and off. Just pulled out my multimeter and BINGO, bad charger! It was actually ranging around only 1 to 3 volts. THANK YOU!!!

Sorry, but the amp rating of the AC adapter being higher than the computer would not be a problem at all. It merely represents the maximum current that the adapter is capable of supplying. If the laptop draws less, that's perfectly fine.

Just as I expected. Time for a new battery. Always a pain in the ass taking apart laptops to get to the internal battery. Thanks for the video as it helped me confirm my suspicions!

Hi Jamin, thank you for this video! After running through all troubleshooting steps, including multimeter on pinouts, I have successfully revived my Acer E5-575G-53VG laptop by replacing the battery (part number AS16B5J). My laptop lives to see another day, and e-waste is reduced, thanks to you!

Great! Here's the issue of my acer laptop, it immediately turns off if the charger is plugged out, and so for me to use it, I have to keep it plugged to the power source. What should I do?I need to fix it to use for online classes.

After three years, I'm not even sure if you're still here. One thing you didn't cover is the receptacle may be defective due to excess manipulation.

My acer 7740 is not charging before and after after the described suggestions were implemented. The last part of the description you showed measuring voltages on some of the pins as 3.xx volts but the batteries are 4.1 volts for a 12 v pack output. How is this proper? Also the last 2 pins had 10V on them. Is that correct too? The problems started about the time of the last windows update.Any suggestions?

Hello! It's so unfortunate that I stumbled upon this video only after I ordered a new battery. So my situation: I ordered a new battery for my Acer because I thought the old one needed to be replaced. It wasn't charging and I could not use the laptop without having it plugged in. I've just received a new battery, the computer is showing that it has a 27% charge, but once I remove the AC, the laptop shuts down the same way as it did with the old battery. I began checking the voltages, the laptop is receiving a steady 19.5V, but some of the battery pins are showing 0. Out of 5 or 6 pins, I believe only one of them showed 3.2V. What do you think?

EDIT: I wrote the above comment while I still had the laptop disassembled. I noticed that one of the battery terminal pins was a bit bent. Didn't think it would matter much since the voltages were weird. I bent it a little downwards to make sure they all line up. After assembling it back together, the laptop actually powered on without the AC. And it's even charging now. So, based on my personal experience, if at least 1 battery terminal pin has more than 3V, it shouldn't cause issues.
