Hey there, friends! Here’s a lesson teaching you how to play Roger Miller’s 1965 classic King of the Road. I’ll be teaching a Key of G arrangement to keep things simple — especially in the second half, where the key change will bring us to Key of A. This allows you to avoid barre chords altogether — and you can simply add a capo 3rd fret if you want to play along with Miller’s version. For strumming, I’ll show you three different options — from which you can pick the best match for your skill level. This one is a blast to play, and I hope you enjoy!

Best lessons online. Pdfs really help and that you offer "tiers" for strumming patterns. Students can learn a song and know they can make it more complex later!

I haven’t practiced much since shoulder surgery a year ago but this one might be the one! I love Roger Miller and KOTR is one I memorized as a kid. I still break out in spontaneous singing/finger snapping sometimes. 😂
Still adore you and your meticulous lessons. 🫶🏻

Thank You. I'm just learning guitar, and this is one of my brother's favorites. It will be awesome to be able to play it for him.

I had found that my ear wanted me to play this in an A D & E but when the key changes on the 3rd verse I could never for the life of me figure out what comes after the Bb... very odd chord progression my brain had come up with
