I remember seeing Roger Miller perform this song on some variety show as a wee lad. I loved it then, and still do today.

Ohh the memories. Going to the grocery store with my mom in her 1960 Mercury Comet.
This song playing on AM radio, she was so happy singing her favorite song.
I was SO lucky to have great parents, and so unlucky they passed away far too young

I just heard this song live for the first time in Florida at a restaurant with older folk; as a 19 year old, I can say that I wish this was the sort of music that was played more frequently on the radio. I love oldies so much, and I just have trouble finding people my age who like the same. I’m definitely adding this song to my playlist <3

I use to go to the American Legion with my parents for fish fry's. I begged my dad for a nickel to play this song on the jukebox. I loved it back then and I still love it now. Thanks Roger.

Every time I hear this song. It reminds me back in 1967 when my Uncle Robert Lee took me to get sherbet ice cream in his convertible Impala. I was 8 years old at the time I thought it tastes so great. The song was playing on the radio. So fascinating that This song reminds me of sherbet ice cream and my uncle on that day. A good memory for me.

Heard this playing on the radio travelling across the country as a kid. My father was in the Navy and we moved a lot. Lived in San Diego and my older brother played Pop Warner football on the best team in San Diego. Roger Miller paid the air far for a bunch of kids in Texas who came to play my brother's team in the Mother Goose Bowl. One of many generous acts of Roger Miller that most people never heard about. Two kids stayed at our house. They were very polite and well-mannered boys.

I was at a Green Bay Packers game in Milwaukee about 1994 - between the 3rd and 4th quarters they played this song on the PA - by the end they had 50, 000 drunken Packers fans singing this song.

Fun Fact: When Roger Miller passed, he gave most of his money to the homeless. Classy guy.

I hitched and caught trains around the u.s for around ten years all together, I've been settled down now for about 8. There are so many memories of so many towns associated with this song. I don't think they'll ever be a time when I don't listen to this song.

great song, I rode the rails in the 50's and 60's. What a great time I had. Didn't need to think about money so much, just life.

My pops and my uncle Roger used to love this damn song. I grew up in the 1970s and songs like this used to play all the time at our cook out & family get together. It was a great time and great music. I wouldn't change a thing about growing up in the 70s & 80s. We had some solid family time and nothing is better than that.

Born in '64 I can remember my dad sauntering across the living room snapping his fingers doing his little dance to this song. Mom would chime in with the harmony. I was 2? Maybe 3? Wonderful memories! ✌️💕
