For several months, I visited with a sweet 90 year old woman at the nursing home in town. I've never met a more godly, Spirit-filled, lovely, loving person. When I went home for spring break, I sang "God be with you til we meet again" to her as I left her room. That was the last time I saw her... she passed away the day I returned from break. Such a beautiful truth that God is with her til we meet again at Jesus' feet!

We will meet again our loved ones, friends, acquaintances and our brothers and sisters whom we have not known in person. At the appointed time we will again in the presence of God Almighty. Jesus said in the gospel in my Father's house there are plenty of rooms. I will go ahead and prepare a place for you so when I will come back and I will take you with me. So that where I am you will be. He who believes me you even if you die you will have eternal life. Let us hold on to that promise with steadfast faith as we continue in our journey with great expectations to meet the Lord in the gates of the New Jerusalem in heaven.

I first heard this hymn while watching _War and Remberance_ in 1983. It was being sung by a Navy family after the wedding of the oldest son, as the family drove to the airport, circa 1939. Having grown up in Norfolk, Va, I was touched by the poignancy of the song, given the losses borne by heroic families of that era. This and _The Navy Hymn_ always stir me deeply. Maybe because both my parents were in WWII. Mom a WAVE, and dad an Army SGT in Europe. Thank You, God, for all Your tender mercies.
