Wooting just DESTROYED all other keyboards...

Finally the Wooting 80HE is here! And I have spent the past week grinding with it to see if it's actually good for gaming (details within the video). But how does it compare to some of the more high quality Hall Effect keyboards we've seen? Well I also answer that in the video...

Our community is definitely well-informed... though that might have something to do with our CEO, Calder, who loves to share a bit too much on stream out of sheer enthusiasm, haha. I really enjoyed the quirky moments you included—your videos are always such a joy to watch.

Lately, more switch options compatible with our board have been popping up, which could be fun to explore. I also made a video on our channel covering a few, if you want to have a listen.

Appreciate the thorough review of our board. I hope it continues to be your daily companion for a long time. I also love the idea of adding a timer to the lightbar—it could be really useful and a fun feature for speedrunners too! I'll make sure to pass this suggestion along to our software team.

The lekker v2's are a significant improvement. Not trying to glaze Wooting too hard, but the only thing I disliked about my 60he was the key wobble. The keys felt truly terrible. I grabbed some v2's, and the problem is nearly non-existent now. Been using them about a week, and I'm very happy.

I think you nailed it. The Wootility software is so easy, and refreshing, to use. Even if you felt other keyboards were just as good as Wooting, their software would stand shoulders above the rest.

The lekkar switches even the V2s just sound terrible. I have a 60he and swapped them for magnetic jades. HUGE sound difference.

thank you for uploading the first 80HE video and exhausting our patience, as I pre-ordered and have been waiting for what feels like ages...😒

I saw this while outside and I panicked and immediately went home to see if my keyboard was destroyed. Fortunately it's still there without any damage. I would be surprised if this keyboard could open my doors and destroy my keyboard.

I love your videos not only for saving my life, informing me about what a good keyboard is, but for your subtle humor also!

I received my 80HE yesterday and love it but I wouldn't say that Wooting has destroyed competition. Wooting's main selling point was rapid trigger and back then they were probably the only company that had it implemented well and working. But over the time, alternatives appeared, such as Rakka, Drunkdeer et cetera. 80HE was advertised with Rappy Snappy, but now that it's been banned in CS (along with SOCD) it's likely that other games will follow and ban it too. It's a very nice keyboard and finally in a optimal size (because until now the choice was limited to 60% and full size 2HE), but it's definitely overpriced. But not gonna lie, Wootility is it's huge advantage over the likes of Razer Synapse and other crappy software

Sooo, I've spent some time researching two common statements about the wooting 80HE. So that everyone who sees this can better decide if it's worth the price or not. My personal opinion is at the end. Let's see which statements are right and which are wrong.

1. The 80HE is too expensive: Objectively speaking, this is simply true

-Plastic Case: For 200€ a plastic case seems like a joke on the current market. Nothing more to say and no understanding for that decision, sorry. I hope they add a other case to the shop which is in the middle of plastic and the zinc alloy and I hope they offer a discount for this for everyone who bought the plastic variant.
-Zinc Alloy case: 120€ is quite high for such a case, some 60he alu cases are 70€ and there seems to be no big advantage of a zinc over alu. (Correct me)
-Switches: The new V2 switches seem to be good, but there are some more premium ones on the market and it would be nice if Wooting would include some of them by default for choice.
-Keycaps: Feel very cheap, just standard caps. Would be great to see Wooting adding some more and better Keycaps for choice in the future.
BUT:
-Warranty: We get 4 years of warranty which is crazy good and no one else offers this currently. (Correct me if I'm wrong)
-Warranty still holds after Modding the keyboard! (Stated in a YouTube comment by Wooting). This is crazy good too. Other companies would deny a replacement of defect parts after Modding!
-Customer Support: Whenever I reached out to them I got an answer at the same day. They also answer regularly on YouTube comments and are very transparent too. To sum it up, a very trustworthy company.
-Software: Hall Effect keyboards are just as good as their software. Wooting is simply the best here. The only competitor I see here is Keychron, the rest is literally bad at software. (looking at you Akko)
-QC/Reliability: Just watch their video series for the 80he production. One of the best Quality Controls I have ever seen. They think about every possible failure directly and test the same parts multiple times. Really good QC.

TL;DR: Build quality wise only in the mid of the market, but Software, Warranty, QC and Customer Support are THE best on the market for sure. But yep, sad that the tradeoff for this is the build quality.

2. The zinc case scratches easily: True, but also false. CEO stated that it should be a absolute exception if the case gets scratches that easily. But tbh I don't see a big problem here as such problems are covered by warranty anyways. Furthermore, this seems to only happen with the white versions.

80HE Alternatives (ISO-DE):
-Keychron Q1 HE: Very good build quality, but software could be a bit better. Recommended.
-Akko mod 007HE: Very good build quality, but Software is a nightmare, warranty only 1 year(? Correct me) and deadzone problems. Not recommended.
-Anything else with same size and ISO-DE layout I forgot?

My opinion: Yes there are some better alternatives build quality wise, but Wooting as a trustworthy company outways this negative aspects for me. Also, a "problem" with the alternative keyboards is that they have southfacing LEDs. For me personally it's a no-go. So I'm stuck with the Wooting 80HE and hope they release a more affordable 80he alu case in the future.

This is a terrible Keyboard, unless you want rapid trigger, there's 1000 better options.
There are even better rapid trigger keyboards.

I don't personally think this is at all worth 200$, coming from a keyboard enthusiast.
