6 BEST GYM SHOES FOR RUNNING AND LIFTING | Hybrid Options!

A hybrid gym shoe is designed to tackle some lifting and running. These models exist somewhere in the middle of this performance spectrum.

I think what's important to remember with hybrid shoes is that they'll have some nuance and limitations to them. That's why it's important to cross-reference your training needs with a shoe's specificity so you can find options that make the most for your needs.

Below are 6 of my favorite gym shoes for running and lifting for different reasons. I tried to include a wide range of models for different needs.

0:00 Best Hybrid Shoes

7:42 Nike Air Zoom TR 1

As I dive deeper into a hybrid-esque training style, it's been really fun zeroing in more on gym shoes for running and lifting.

I find that a lot of shoes "try" to exist in both the running and lifting verticals but often end up falling short and being sub-par overall.

To combat this, I've shifted how I look at hybrid shoes to a much more specific lens, and it's helped me make better picks based on your baseline training requests throughout the week.

For example, suppose you primarily want a hybrid shoe that excels exceptionally for classes, too. In that case, you'll want to explore different options than someone who wants a hybrid shoe for more outdoor workouts.

I have a narrow foot and still had to size up half a size in the Vimana Hybrid Runner for length. I wear socks with them, and Jake doesn't, so maybe that bought him some extra space. And I heard of the shoe thanks to this channel 👌

Great video! Any chance we can see a review of the Rudis Journey? I would be very curious as to how it stacks up to other "hybrid" shoes.

Great video. I just started the gym like 3 or 4 months ago and I've been using a pair of ultraboost. I want some new shoes that have more stability for some squats, nothing super serious or heavy. But i also want something that can be comfortable or semi for walking or running on the treadmill. Just wanted to see, what you would recommend?

Great content Jake, appreciated! Quick question on the F-Fly: how is the grip? I am wondering in particular how it will perform for the Hyrox sled push. Thanks! 😃

Great content. I got the inov8 f-fly TTS. And I have a e width foot also. I felt there was some spillover around the mid foot and not as stable for mobility work. What would you recommend with something for lifting, running 1-3 miles, some mobility work, and something with a bout 4mm and above drop?

Was literally looking for a post like this on your web page earlier 😂. Looking for something for sub 5k running in CrossFit, and something like Murph

What shoe would you recommend for someone who always starts their workouts running the treadmill for about 10 minutes just to warm up, then proceeds to lift/workout?

You're easily likable, but I wish you had a video on just the running shoe, or would have loved to have known which running shoe was your fav. I found you by looking up the cloud 6 review, but am left still needing input on a better running shoe

Hey Jake, Awesome video. What an amazing shoe collection you've got. I love running and working out. I switched to barefoot shoes a long time ago and got two pairs of the Hykes Pinnacle—one for the gym (especially for leg day) and the other for running/walking.

What do you think about barefoot shoes for working out and running?

Thanks for sharing! 🤛🤛

Hey man! Love this video. Looking to find two shoes to help keep my feet and knees healthy. One shoe would be for officiating basketball. You would consider me an athlete on a court so I can get moving on a court. I’ve been using Hokas but I feel like my foot rolls off the top because I run on the balls so when I am coming to a quick turn or stop I can feel my foot rolling off the top of the insole, if that makes sense. My second shoe would be for the gym. I do a little of everything. Jump and speed works outs with lifting heavy on squat and deadlift. I was going barefoot for a while but realized I am needing more traction under my feet. Actually ended up hurting medial of knee. Long story short it is healing and looking to get back into lifting again after knee is healed up. Thanks!

Great video, thank you for getting in depth with these and actually using them so you have experience to present . I had a question, would you stay away from the ASICS Gel Nimbus 26 for heavy weightlifting and intense sprinting/stair master sessions ?
