Funny coincidence that I've just started playing Hitman. Got into it two days ago and the thing I love the most, which was not mentioned, is that your objective is not so much finishing a mission but more like finishing the same mission over and over in all the different ways you can find to do so. Pretty original and it offers great instant replayability when you're always trying to find alternate paths for the same goal

The Hitman games took me a while to really appreciate, what with their open ended structure and unusual way the 'levels' were released. But I certainly see the appeal now

Shadow of the Colossus is more than just a unique game, it's an experience. And one that's not easy to get back into, not because of the difficulty but because of the melancholic feel of it.

i really enjoy falcons weird obsession with sonic games. it feels like he always finds a way to sneak them in

I always remember Mirrors Edge as being a really unique game to play. It was an action game that wasn’t, more like a puzzle action game. I really enjoyed it and played through a few times. Still waiting on that sequel 12 years later haha.

I'd say the portal series feels pretty unique, but if there are other games like them, I wanna hear about them

Jake and falcon feel like gamers more than reviewers, which i really like. Very relatable for the average and serious gamer

At the time of its release, I would have said that Batman: Arkham Asylum should have been mentioned in this list with it's perfect blend of action, horror, and stealth. It was flawless in execution and gave many of us comic book fans hope that games based off of comic books and super heroes could be true to the source material.

Glad Driver San Francisco is getting some recognition. truly an underrated gem that deserves a modern update.

Seeing Bully in a list like this made me so bad that it never got a sequel or a game similar like it. I’ve played it and beat it many times, even on different platforms. The fact that by the end you start recognising NPC’s mulling about in the world easily by the way end of the game is like no other, even now.

In this day and age we have to really appreciate those developers who create games that are different and don’t follow everything that’s “popular.” They are willing to take a chance to really let their creativity shine whether it’s a financial success or not.

I feel like Subnautica is worthy of this list. It looks like another crafting/survival game on the surface but the way it told its story without forcing it onto you, and how it had me genuinely terrified to explore deeper was something I’ve never experienced before in a game.

I think the shadow of Mordor series with the Nemesis system was so unique and great.

the Hitman games truly are unlike any other game, honestly its basically the closest thing you have to a video game like westworld where you can throw the NPCs off their usual loops and change how events play out. its as much about social engineering as it is about stealth and assassination. I highly recommend watching the noclip documentary where they talk about level design because they thought it out to the point where 2 characters who are usually never supposed to meet can be secretly engineered to bump into each other and they bothered to create special events and dialogue just for that fringe case interaction.

“We won’t be talking indie games for this list….

#9 is Undertale!”

😐

I'd like to mention the Nemesis system in Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War. Each play through feels completely different since the orc captains traits and story lines are randomized.
