Metal Gear Solid 4 - Guns of the Patriots

After Screaming Mantis, Meryl stood behind to cover his back. When Snake almost reach the Microwaves room he starts to feel real bad and the syringe no longer works. FROGs Units apears but Raiden interfears to save Snake once again. He wanted to go by himself because he sees himself as a machine. Snake disagrees and then Raiden stood to cover his back.

I love how Snake and Raiden spend like two minutes having a heart-to-heart in front of the enemy, who are both just waiting politely until they finish evidently../

Despite the fact Raiden gained Lightning Powers OUT OF NOWHERE and those powers being completely removed later...
It's an awesome scene!

Raiden is what is know as a tragic hero. He started off as a literal copy of snake in mgs 2, and people were infuriated. Saying just that, only later do people realize that that was the case. The patriots orchestrated the big shell incident as an experiment to combat against those who would threaten their reign, and Raiden was the unfortunate guinea pig simply because he was the only child soldier who acted differently from the numerous child soldiers that solidus trained.

He became so confused, so fearful, so angry at himself that all he could do is protect the one person who gave him any sense of what is real... Snake. He only see's himself as a protector to the one who gave him any closure. Poor guy.

He then became a beloved figure in the franchise because we see him undergo such an evolution. Raiden really is the hyper representation of the everyman in everyday life. Trying to fight fate, while keeping close those who gave a sense of peace

first he nearly kills himself fighting Vamp
then he cuts off his arm to stop Outer Haven, losing his other
then attempts to sacrifice his life for snake in this scene

and people say Snake is the most heroic

sure is nice of those soldiers to give Raiden and Snake all the time to talk, and then let snake mosey on through, without stopping him. Nicest Soldiers ever.

It says a lot about Snake's reputation that even though he's having a seizure on the floor a bunch of near-emotionless bio-engineered soldiers are still so wary of getting close enough to capture him.

The way mgs4 changed the protagonists of the last 3 games

Mgs 1 protagonist turns into a granddaddy
Mgs 2 protagonist turns into a ninja
Mgs 3 protagonist turns from being dead for the 3rd time to not being dead but then becomes dead again

I'm a long dated Raiden fan, since MGS2... He deserved that scene... He is Badass.

Raiden is actually my favorite MGS character. He has the most character development out of all the characters. And whereas Snake was a badass soldier from the beginning, we actually get to see Raiden get transformed from a new recruit to an absolute unit, and it’s so so satisfying.
