Hi Everyone!

"tooclose" is a short film created by Taryn Kanoelani (Dacuag). This was a film created for a school project, Digital Dialogue, where students used everything they have learned until this point and use it toward creating a short film. This film is soon to be remade as it was made almost 2 years ago.

Lifelong friendships are put to the test when one falls in love.

SYNOPSIS:
"Kiernan and Amelia have been friends for years, Kiernan has secretly fallen in love with Amelia. In recent days Amelia and her boyfriend Reggie have broken up. Kieran tries her best to comfort Amelia, through this she realizes that she's fallen even deeper in love with Amelia. Kiernan is led to believe that Amelia feels the same, after a night of almost kissing, Kiernan believes it's time to confess her love. But after being rejected Kiernan flips out in frustration of rejection which leads to the pair spending time apart. Amelia still tries her best to reach out to Kiernan while Kiernan is trying her best to forget about her. After realizing she reacted too harshly she meets up with Amelia to smooth things over, letting everything go once and for all.

this is so sad, but it was really good. with only being 10 minutes long, i feel like there was a good enough build up where i could feel kiernan's emotions. i also found it interesting that amelia was the one who asked kiernan how she would tell someone she loves them, but then was also the one doing the rejecting at the end. maybe she's scared of her own sexuality?

It's funny on my first watch I thought Amelia was lesbian too, I hadn't a breeze she broke up with a guy. Until I read the Synopsis lol. It totally warped my take on the film.

Nothing groundbreaking really in terms of WLW shorts, we've seen the lesbian friend falling for straight friend and them not loving them back in a romantic way a ton before. But I thought it was nicely acted by both actresses and any film that uses the Smiths get a thumbs up from me.

Definitely right decision from both to go their own ways. Kiernan is always going to be unhappy being around Amelia. Amelia will always make her friend unhappy and won't ever be able to love Kiernan the way she wants. Amelia shouldn't have kissed Kiernan but we all make mistakes.

So director/writer Taryn Kanoelani is planning to remake this. Be interesting to see if she rewrote the script and goes for a different take on the short.

like honestly??? feel so sorry for the girl who confessed her love, at least she was brave enough to confess her feeling towards her friend even tho i think she might knew that they aren't ending up together. but she tried!!! and the friend who firstly kissed with her and then suddenly decided to just ignore her friends feelings?? - insisting on continuing as friends because who doesn't like to be loved by someone, strongly wish that the girl who confessed her feelings never talks to that girl again, because all she did was make her friends feelings a problem.
